Any challenge to it would likely be on rational basis standard, I believe, which is normally super permissive-- but I would be pretty sure it would be struck down on that level, if the court didn't establish a protection level/class for it under the 14th amendment.

The mafia...as in the Five families, are a shadow of their former selves. A changing world and the ability of the government to wield tech to absolutely haymaker their bread and butter activities crippled them permanently.

That might have been trueish in the 80s when this went down, but the RICO act and the busting of the mob really hosed the mafia up since then. Even in the 80s I reckon legit businesses stayed clean-- Trump just doesn't care about being legit.

Charliegrs posted:You know this talk of a potential flood of left wingers buying guns got me thinking. May-issue laws worked pretty much entirely like that, only traditionally focused on poor/minority people being shut out. They still exist in a few states and in cities that are allowed to enact stricter gun laws than their states. They're all pretty blue places these days, but it hasn't changed that if you want to get a gun there you should first become as white and well-off as possible. The pro-gun racist stance today is to let lefty-looking people get all the guns they want then Castile them.
