I haven't had a camera in about five years. Bought the PowerShot G3X for this trip and it's been a great companion.

Glacial silt apparently. It's hard to get the colour right without it looking fake but it's absolutely turquoise.

Yeah its really cool. Glacial silt creates milky turquoise water which is absolutely beautiful and surprisingly murky.

For context, it's a NPS Ranger taking a photo of some people for them and the flash hit the brim when it popped up so that was her solution

Other glacial silt trivia: if you find a section that's collected into a muddy soup, it feels amazing to squish your toes into it. So pop off those shoes and play.

Just don't do it on a tidal flat or you'll get stuck and drown.

I've been in Oregon the past week and was worried about the fires as I drove this way, the smoke actually makes for some really epic sunrises/sunsets.

There is a point where it's too dense to shoot anything, but before that it's a fun opportunity to get something slightly unique.

Yeah my week up there was bad too. Still happy to be out there but it sucks to have a trip out there spoiled a bit.

We drove out from Winnipeg too so that was a lot of time in the car.

I was just at my sister's in Calgary so just a bit over 2 hours from her place to Yoho, she doesn't do early mornings, so no getting up early enough for sunrises.

Friday in Kananaskis was great though

My wife and I made a date of it. I maybe had a glass of wine or two and flubbed my settings, and somehow I ended up shooting the drat sun at ISO 3200. We were only 95% or so, but still.
