I have a mosin with a hexagonal receiver that's stamped 1926, although I'm pretty sure it wasn't used in combat, because it was in near mint condition when I bought it (for $109). e: Real talk, when you fire an M1 Garand you feel like a god damned American. I've never shot a gun that felt so satisfying, with the exception of maybe the M2.

I lugged around a 249 most of my army time and would gladly never touch one again. I blame at least one of my bad discs on that unnecessarily issued chunk of steel. Plenty of A2s in the arms room, but sgt major didn't approve of my 'stache.
