Here's the bottomline.

The people that marched in Charlottesville were...by definition? Terrorists. They are many types of terrorists, Islamic, Eco, Left Wing...what have you. But that's what that group of people were, Terrorists.

We should not be shy in calling these people by that name. Christ one of these assholes was trying to re-enact Oklahoma City last weekend .

Don't think of Dick Spencer how one would think of a normal right wing voice (a Ben Shapiro, a Sean Hannity or a Rush Limbaugh). Think of him as you would an Isis Sympathizer.

Let's go back to the point of this thread which was to mock centrist 3rd wave neolibs.

These people should be ashamed of themselves. They're spineless cowards who enabled republican policies, enabled trump and led us down this path. How come they never take responsibility for their actions?

As I've said before. I don't agree 100 percent with DSA/Socialists but you know? they're way a head of the curb on civil rights than any of these asswipes. But they always find a way to leap in front of actual progress made by those groups I just typed about to get credit for it.

The Hillary wing wasn't out there in Charlottesville going against literal nazi's, but the DSA sure as poo poo was.

Unsure of where to post this, but this country is in a very dark, bad state.

We've had a lot of problems with race and class struggles in this country. They got swept under the rug during much of the 70's, 80s, 90's and 2000's. Ignoring them and passing the buck has led us to this moment.

This isn't a Trump thing. This has been a systemic failure by our government to not take care of a lot of these problems. Trump has become the ugly disfigured face of those problems though.

The hope of going back to traditional conservative or traditional clinton liberal politics is dead now. As it should be. The question of where things will go from here though is very important. I don't think Trump will serve all 4 years, but my hope is that we're not stuck with an option such that is a redux of the 2012 election.

To clarify, No the truth is not in the middle. The truth is going to have to come from the DSA, Left in the hopes of wrangling it back to the middle. That's what needs to be done. A country with two republican party's will lead us to even more fascism.

I can't blame anyone for saying "stick to sports" any more. I think people are about to go insane in this country and are BEGGING for some sort of distraction from their daily lives. I don't think it's coming from a place of racism or being apathetic about matters. Rather I think a good portion of those people feel like they have little to no power on the subject and just are tired.

The obsession with the Kaepernick story is bordering on...bizarre. I don't think people who follow football actually care nor would they want on him their team.

It just reminds me of Nick Mullen on CumTown talking about how Comedy was about to go way down the shitter in the age of trump. The "BUT SERIOUSLY GUYS, THINGS ARE hosed UP" faux outrage is wearing thin on people.

Otherwise...yeah you're risking being unemployed.

I still don't know why he doesn't go to Canada. I mean Warren Moon and Doug Flutie got Grey Cups out of doing it. Both actually came back better than they were. Seems like it'd be better for his career. He'd probably dominate and get a Grey Cup out of it.

man, that's an incredibly mean, snobbish, and condescending thing to say to people. the problem with kaepernick articles- and thinkpieces in general- is that none of them say anything new. if you've read one of them, you've read them all. the entire reason i read and participated on SB Nation was because it was fun and didn't have articles like these all the time, which was a refreshing change of pace from post-craggs Deadspin. then vox took over, kaepernick happened, it got less fun, and i haven't been on for months (although the last straw was that eye-searingly awful redesign in his screenshot)

When I wanted to read/watch something serious about the politics involving sports? I generally would read an article from Sports Illustrated, watch "Outside the Lines" or "Real Sports". there's a ton of interesting intersections between sports and politics that you can write about. take Ilya Kovalchuk. he hosed over the NJ Devils for the second time in his career (and will burn in hell because of it) so he could play for one more year in the russian hockey league for a St. Petersburg team that's owned by the owner of Gazprom, who's a Putin lackey. he also gets to play in the Winter Olympics due to the NHL not attending, so he'll be paraded as a point of national pride. he's almost certainly going to make less money next season than if he got signed and traded away, but he doesn't give a poo poo, he gets to have a victory lap in a sport that's only been used to promote national pride in the post-soviet era for a little less than a decade

there's also the transfer deal that Neymar signed to leave Barcelona for a Parisian club owned by the Qatari royal family. it's hosed up for several reasons, not the least of which is his 2022 World Cup ambassadorship to skirt french tax law

you can write some incredible articles about these things, but it's much easier to write the same scolding poo poo about kaepernick for the millionth time. there's no effort in crapping them out
