OSRS has very little to do with what Runescape was like in 2006, they've gone and hosed around with most of it quite a bit so it's no longer a pure copy of 2007 Runescape

If you want to explore the old one you used to play then OSRS will satisfy that for you. They've updated a lot, so there's now a wide variety of items / gear that was not in the original 2007 version but ultimately the "feel" is still the same. At least to me. Give it a shot, if nothing else for the nostalgia trip.

I want to play this game again after having my old-rear end account banned back in 2013 for trying out a macro app for the first time (my fault I know). I do want to see what's changed and try out the new skill but lol if I'm ever going to grind in this game ever again. (What I'm trying to say is that I do think about this game sometimes, and of my old account )

Lol you can't try out invention unless you already got level 70 in like 15 different skills first. But there's also a lot less time spent grinding to get to those sorts of levels these days then there used to be so

Yeah that's why I said I don't have the time to re-grind if I make a new one. How much better is the grinding now though? Is it like twice as fast now as compared to back in 2010-12?

You basically will get a ton of bonus xp and xp lamps from ongoing events and also a lot of the real gruntwork has been replaced with batch actions or simpler methods of doing the same thing. Like how the Runespan eliminated running between banks and far flung altars and made it so you just need to go a few steps between different items in another place.

In terms of time/exp there are a ton of dailies and repeatables now that give you tons of experience for very little time spent. Part of my problem with the game as it is now is that there are far too many dailies that are just too efficient. By the time I finish my set I feel like I've played enough for one day, and if I choose not to do them I feel like I'm wasting my time.

Yep, they were a thing back in like 2011 or so, hopefully the September event coincides with my break. I'm far too busy with university work now to grind on games, but I think I'll enjoy going through the quests again. FAKE EDIT: Also is there like a great newbie guide to speedlevel or something, I just want to try to get as close as possible to where I was previously (but ofc I'll never get my holiday items back ever again ).

I couldn't find an entire new player guide to leveling but if you google "Rs3 efficient [insert skill here] leveling guide" you should be able to find quite a few guides that will go over the quickest way to level that skill from 1-99. The EXP rates are SUPER quick now so you shouldn't have a hard time leveling anything. Except for the skills that cost a lot of $$$ of course. Someone else would have to tell you how to earn some quick cash as I don't play Rs3 a lot. EDIT: Also, is anyone else super stoked about the mobile client? I'll probably put more hours into that then the desktop client. Confer fucked around with this message at 17:42 on Aug 17, 2017 |

Speaking of cash, how is the currency value now? Inflation in this game was crazy last I played, and I had about 10 million which was a decent sum for a medium-high level player back then. What constitutes as "rich" now, and what's the price range for the highest level gear?

I'm not 100% sure on this so take what I say as a grain of salt but I'm pretty sure 10M isn't considered very much at all anymore. You can buy a bond for roughly 5-6$ USD. This bond in OSRS sells for about 3M while in Rs3 it will sell for about 14M. You could probably get a nice jump start with 14M in Rs3 but I can't imagine it will last you for very long.

The definition of "rich" would probably be upwards of 2b+ in my opinion, and that's with maxed stats. Price ranges for weapons: T85 ~1-24m (GW2 weapons, higher for weapons like Camel Staff, which is ~50m) T90 ~ 133-263m (noxious weaponry, scythe being the most expensive and one of the best melee weapons in the game), ~30m for dual drygores T92 ~ 1-2b for Telos weaponry, 700m for dual Khopesh swords Price ranges for armour: T80 ~ 73m for Nex armour T85 ~ FREE for Ports Superior Armour (requires minigame and lots of time to obtain; is tank armour so limited use for PvM) T85 ~ 60m for GW2 Anima Core armour (not the refined versions) T90 ~ 22-70m for Sirenic, Tectonic, and Malevolent armour

im somehow having fun on OSRS by playing it the way it was always meant to be played: barely paying attention while you watch netflix or read a book or something. of course, on the other hand, i could play RS3 the exact same way. i guess i just like OSRS better. although that new continent thing looks super gay and i was pissed off that a clue scroll made me go there.

Whoa yeah not much point in recovering my old account other than for the nostalgia tbh, but I'm a huge sucker for nostalgia. I just got an e-mail from them about 2 days ago denying my application even though my account was banned way back in 2013, Jagex is brutal! Anyway against my better judgment I've created a new account, is the Goonscape clan still active? Robert Red Rocket fucked around with this message at 09:14 on Sep 2, 2017 |
