GBTC isn't creating new shares and has like an 80-some percent premium to the underlying bitcoins. It's applied for NYSE listing for January I think, decision due in a month or two, and if that happens it'll be diluted down to NAV like instantly if the system works and bitcoins are liquid enough, but they aren't.

Solice Kirsk

It hitting NAV would be a good thing for everyone, but the owners. Looking into it I think each share is worth about .10 of a bit coin so it's actually trading at almost a 200% premium. You'd think it would plummet eventually, but they're the only game in town to invest in BTC on the market so even if they release new shares it might not affect anything until another player comes in.

A company (even a company that loses a ton of money) like NFLX has at least some toe hold in reality, whatever cryptocoin "instrument" that is hip this week does not.

Have about 3k worth of XIV right now. I bought after the NK dip and planned to hold until $90. Hell of a day today but took it as an opportunity to average down quite a bit. Should be exciting to hold over the weekend!

Hopefully the cheeto can remain calm, but he seems to be spiraling out of control more quickly than usual.

Fortunately sold off an ATVI call for about 40% gain yesterday. Now bagholding a HD call with a Sep 15 expiry.

Bought SPY calls at EOD with expiry next week, gambling on a gap up on Monday if the weekend is uneventful.

My big hangup with GBTC is the premium it's trading for. And the potential for a massive sell off if new shares are introduced or another option for crypto becomes available in the market.

Can you still ban yourself with those thread tags? I'm not saying this to try and shape anyone's behavior, seriously I'm not, just willingly giving this option to any forum user if they are sick of me this is guaranteed to make me go away forever. No, you're 100% right and the bitcoin communities are almost universally insufferable. I won't even joke about it going forward.

Why? In the last month, BTC is up 78.8% and GBTC is up 81.4%. That's not too bad tracking error.

A share of GBTC has an objective value- 1/10 of a Bitcoin (there's a 2 percent annual fee that will erode this ratio over time but I DIGRESS). It is currently priced wildly higher than that because reasons. It's nothing but a time bomb, and if you want to play Bitcoin why not just buy some at coinbase or gemini? Why buy an instrument that is very nearly 100% overvalued? You are literally buying $1 for $2.
