CAT INTERCEPTOR posted:"Never used racecar" is such a sad and horrible thing. It's slightly better when it's about late Group B cars, at least, rather than someone just mothballing a car that was going to race And, I kinda think it's cool to have one or two untouched examples, for reference, or history's sake. 1/7 isn't a good ratio, or even 1/20 though.

I wonder what's in it. Looks to be a peripheral port and weber type carb. I wonder what the output was*, what it used in internals, gearbox, diff and also any differences they made between rx7 track cars and rally cars with the drive lines. It's unused because Group B was canceled before Mazda finished the car: https://www.topgear.com/car-news/motorsport/mazdas-rotary-powered-rx-7-group-b-car#1 edit: yes, it's a Weber-equipped peripheral port: "A factory Mazda peripheral ported 13B twin-rotor engine. A Wankel that’s good for 300bhp and screams round to superbike RPMs. For better weight distribution, the motor was shifted four-inches back from the production car and fitted with a dry sump system. Beneath the plenum, you’ll see an MRT-modified Weber 51 IDA carburetor delivering the fuel and air mixture straight into the MFR (Mazda Factory Race) rotor housings via their peripheral intake ports. Rotary porn. " Darchangel fucked around with this message at 16:14 on Aug 17, 2017 |

Superbikes hit what, 16k plus? I've seen weeny 250cc bikes crack 19k. aaaaaaanyway, it's a cool car.

F1 engines would hit 20k (they're limited to 15k now but in practice they rarely hit it). And then there's the old Honda superbike engines that apparently were starting to approach the sound barrier in terms of how fast the pistons were moving.
