There is still about a 100% chance there will be a bigger rematch. So I bet they keep up the hatred until at least one more payday.

Precisely. Floyd doesn't want to fight with people who could realistically beat him. Which will make it sweet IF Conor somehow sparks him.

He gassed out 7 minutes into that fight. 7 minutes in which he followed the age old beat diaz gameplan of 'kick his legs' and 'stay the gently caress away from him' and he gassed. Do you think there is the same expenditure of energy in MMA and boxing?

ie, is facing a 170 pound kicking and punching and wrestling and grappling Diaz, the same burn as facing a 145 pound defensive boxing specialist Mayweather?

Trying and failing to punch someone repeatedly is very tiring. Also, boxing and MMA are different sports and require different methods of energy management, and Conor has never boxed before, ever, so yes, I think it will be more tiring for him than the sport he has done all his life.

That and Conor still gassed even in the second Diaz fight, where there was very little grappling and he was fighting much more efficiently than he was in the first fight.

He probably has about three or four rounds to try to land his miracle KO punch, and after that he's hosed.

Having "done" both sports I always think the footwork is the exhausting part. I'd think it's pretty comparable. I also see people clinched and resting for minutes at a time in MMA.

Boxing footwork, in general, is much more intensive than MMA footwork. Especially for the non professional boxer who likes to stand in a wide legged karate stance trying to hit the least hittable boxer on planet earth.

I do think that teeing off on Diaz in a one sided opening stanza is probably less tiring than trying and failing to hit an extremely fast defensive boxer who will be countering constantly, yes. I have no idea why you would think this a controversial opinion.

It's not really a good comparison because one is 36 minutes of fight time and one is 25 minutes.

It's a very hard comparison, but it's not unreasonable to think about.
It's 11 minutes of rest versus 4, which is hugely in the 12 round fight's favor.

Plus grappling tends to eat up cardio like nothing, even if Conor doesn't grapple much, if at all, during his fights.

Boxings extremely easy and if it ever gets hard luckily you get to take a nice break 12 times a fight. MMA is actually hard.

Wow I have more respect for boxers now that I know they get a makeover every round break, the long break they spend sitting between their extremely short rounds.

In anything from fencing to fighting I've always noticed the bottom falls out of people at around the two minute mark. No idea how Conor will adapt. Some boxing lessons don't even need gloves because you spend so much time drilling footwork.

Nate seems to be mad that boxers are saying that Conor is going to get embarrassed in a boxing match but he also says he'd take boxers over MMA fighters when it comes to punching and poo poo, so I dunno what he's actually mad at.
