He finished the fight underneath him, sucking air. It took everything he had to stay in that fight, to become the 9th man to beat him by decision. His gas tank is poo poo. Do you think there is the same expenditure of energy in MMA and boxing? ie, is facing a 170 pound kicking and punching and wrestling and grappling Diaz, the same burn as facing a 145 pound defensive boxing specialist Mayweather?

That and Conor still gassed even in the second Diaz fight, where there was very little grappling and he was fighting much more efficiently than he was in the first fight. He probably has about three or four rounds to try to land his miracle KO punch, and after that he's hosed.

Having "done" both sports I always think the footwork is the exhausting part. I'd think it's pretty comparable. I also see people clinched and resting for minutes at a time in MMA.

Boxing footwork, in general, is much more intensive than MMA footwork. Especially for the non professional boxer who likes to stand in a wide legged karate stance trying to hit the least hittable boxer on planet earth.

I have no idea why you would think this a controversial opinion.

Boxings extremely easy and if it ever gets hard luckily you get to take a nice break 12 times a fight. MMA is actually hard.

In anything from fencing to fighting I've always noticed the bottom falls out of people at around the two minute mark. No idea how Conor will adapt. Some boxing lessons don't even need gloves because you spend so much time drilling footwork.

Nate seems to be mad that boxers are saying that Conor is going to get embarrassed in a boxing match but he also says he'd take boxers over MMA fighters when it comes to punching and poo poo, so I dunno what he's actually mad at.
