:siren: group buy - sa max ashen from maxkey - round 2 :siren:

- $78 for a fully sculpted sa keycap set, honeywell themed
- $16.80 shipping if you just buy just that, or free shipping if you grab $100 of stuff
- group closes sept. 5th, ships october-ish
- abs, but thick rear end doubleshot abs with a satisfying sound

round 2 changes a couple things:

quote:

The new and improved Maxkey Max Ashen is back by popular demand. With its classic and low-key gray color scheme accented by a dash of red, SA Max Ashen is reminiscent of the aftermath of a campfire, with some burning embers amidst a pile of gray and white ashes. Previous issues such as "Back space", “SHIF T”have been all resolved, "Delete" is now "DEL" and "Escape" now "ESC", for even better aesthetics.

i can vouch for both the production quality of this set and zfrontier, and i've been quite happy with my purchase. this is a legit good purchase if you've been lusting after crisp, luxurious doubleshot sa keycaps, at a more reasonable price than the sp stuff on massdrop. the ~6 week turn around is also quite nice.

yeah as a compact keyboard the Apple ADB Keyboard (aka IIgs Keyboard) is quite good and the arrow key layout turns out not to be a big deal

the original Apple Extended Keyboard (M0115) is also quite good if you can find one, I was using mine again recently with my Quadra 950 and it was rather comfortable

if you swap control and caps lock ADB keyboards don't handle caps lock state correctly

the Apple Desktop Bus Keyboard already has the control key in the right place, because it was designed for the Apple IIgs

not as heckin' loud as some of the other stuff i've had, but paired with clears it's right on that perfect line (to me at least) where it makes enough noise to be satisfying but not enough for my neighbors to come knocking with murder in their eyes when i'm still working on something at 3 am

I found my old AEK and my Griffin iMate and have them hooked up again.

a few things:

* this thing needs a cleaning bad, but my key puller is at work so that'll have to wait until I drop by my office to get it
* this thing needs a retr0bright-ing bad, it looks like it's yellowed quite a bit since I put it in storage :(
* Removing the battery from the iMate seems to have made it stop dropping keystrokes
* The angle of the keyboard is weird. I'm not sure I like it.

so the Griffin iMate ADB->USB adapter has an undocumented button cell in it. I pulled it out, tested it, it was reading 1.2 V on a 3V battery.

I've left it out, so far everything seemed to work. Googling pointed to it being used for having the power button on the keyboard work to power on new-world macs.

Finally figured out that caps lock is also broken with the battery removed.

I’m pretty sure this is actually just the OS and nothing to do with the iMate battery, I think the battery is solely used for New World power-on
