I have a feeling there is some Netflix fuckery going on though. My parents called like a week ago and asked if they would like Iron Fist, because it came up recommended for them. They watch a ton of political and legal dramas, and it was probably that which made it get suggested to them since a big part of Iron Fist is the corporate espionage. When I told them it was about a kung fu guy with a magic fist and he was going to be in a team up with Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and Luke Cage, they said they had no idea it was a comic book thing.

I was gonna say something like that too, I feel like I saw way more promotion from Netflix for iron fist than any of the others. Heck I don't think they even let me know Luke cage was coming out until it showed up as watchable

I mean, it's hard for me to say Netflix was lying outright about Iron Fist's numbers, but considering how thoroughly panned the show was, they needed SOME excuse to renew it.

Also, they can cover it up with "He's busy working on Inhumans" all they want, but I guarantee you, Scott Buck was shitcanned for the poor critical response. If he wasn't, they'd be promoting from within like Marco Ramirez and Doug Petrie were on Daredevil. Not that "guy who wrote for Sleepy Hollow, Heroes Reborn, and Falling Skies" should fill you with any great hope for a comeback, but Marvel and Netflix know what the gently caress's up.

Even more reckless speculation: The only reason why Buck is still employed on Inhumans is that they don't need it to look like any more of a landfill fire than it already does.

Iron Fist is like Star Trek Voyager. Critics and genre fans pan it, but ask some random person online which show they liked best and they'll say Iron Fist.

That's the second best, the best is how they poo poo on his mystical kung fu bullshit and at the end of the season they have to defend a dragon corpse that is holding up New York and never even know it.

Unless they are also lying that their Sandler movies are their most watched properties, I'll believe anything about the American viewing public. Just because critics thought IF sucked (full disclosure I haven't seen it) doesn't mean people didn't like it. I remember even around here a lot of people saying it wasn't as bad as the reviews said, which you wouldn't expect.

Tuvok is character who portrays living the Vulcan lifestyle as a practice. Not something he did and then he is that way now, or something he is lying to himself about being, but something that is a constant struggle to maintain a chosen countenance and mindset. His character reflects the way that real-life monks practice meditation and continually try to address and improve their flaws. Often in Star Trek, you have flaws in Vulcan logic pointed out by other characters. Tuvok is one of the only Vulcans who constantly works to address and examine his own flaws. Which are many.

Where TOS shows Vulcans as more or less innately logical beings, and ENT shows Vulcan intellectualism as a crumbling facade of bullshit, VOY portrays it as a a practice that must be maintained. Too bad about the rest of the show, though.
