I found some screencaps of comments that I had saved a few weeks ago and always meant to post.

Backstory: One of Black Panther's main villains has always been M'Baku, also known as "Man-Ape", the leader of the evil White Gorilla Cult, enemy of the nation of Wakanda. M'Baku gains his powers of super-strength, endurance, etc., from bathing in white gorilla blood and eating white gorilla flesh. Also, he debuted in 1969 and looks like this in the comics:



Naturally, Marvel is not having a black man in YOOL 2017 dress up in a gorilla costume, no matter how villainous a character he may be. So, instead, he will just go by M'Baku and (also, naturally) not use the "Man-Ape" moniker, and he will look like this:



He will still be the leader of the White Gorilla Cult, and he will still menace Black Panther. However, he won't be a black man calling himself "Man-Ape" and dressing in a full-bodied gorilla-costume. This was, of course, completely unacceptable to the nerd community, which is apparently really, really racist these days. And now, three people missing the point completely in three very different ways.





Also, I'm not sure if this was from the same article, but it's definitely someone being SUPER racist about the new Ironman ("Ironheart"), a teenage black girl.

Really the biggest problem with the "Heritage not Hate" thing is that for a lot of people it's true, just like people fly the flag of the traitor, racist, slaveholding Republic of Texas and their only meaning is "i'm proud to be Texan". Now that literal Nazis are back and flying the rebel flag, that might change...or it might just make them more stubborn.

I've seen confederate flags here in California. One was a bumper sticker (plates were California, though, if I'm remembering right) and one was a dude flying a confederate on his truck down the street from me for a long time. The flag's gone, pretty sure the truck is too. Also the flag had an assault rifle on it and text that said COME AND TAKE IT.
