Captain Splendid posted:So it's basically the USS Vengeance if it was a Star Destroyer. In that case, I hope it too will make the sound of a WW1 biplane combined with a million hornets. That was the best thing about Vengeance.

That ship is ridiculously ugly and apparently it only has twenty four guns? One gun for every one thousand feet? Cool.

The Walker looks like it has some cool potential if it can grab stuff with it's front paws. The ship is extremely lame looking through. It's just a flat plane with a spoiler and a dick cannon.

I demand that walker rear up on its hind legs, beat its chest, and then grab an X-Wing out of the sky.

That's probably the worst part of all the new "world building." Presumably Snoke. But also the new EU has the Battle of Jakku wiping out the worst dregs of the Empire. While the best of the best was sent beyond the Unknown Regions to rebuild. Admirals, elite soldiers, and ships, including a Super Star Destroyer. Kid Hux was there, too. Flash forward 30 years, and they became the First Order. They built in secret for 30 years. Which also explains the look of surprise on Poe's face when he's brought aboard the Star Destroyer at the beginning of TFA. They had no idea they had that level of resources. No idea how Snoke factors in yet, obviously.

The new republic also had a lot of first order sympathizers in it. The book Bloodline, not to be confused with the godawful Bloodlines, goes into detail about this and how there's a lot of credits going to backwater planets and shell companies. Not to mention Gallius Rax tossing away a lot of the shittier Remnant forces.

Especially since Rian Johnson apparently asked the author of Bloodline, Claudia Gray, to include certain things in the book.
