I am still amazed at the number of Leoric's that manage double digit deaths every game, because they think the shortened respawn timer makes it okay. You're still loving dead for a third of the game, and that's not okay. Being dead for a third of the game instead of half of it isn't really beneficial to your team.

Because the quests you get aren't completely random, they are influenced by what characters you tend to play. If you never play support, it's very unlikely you'll get the support quest. Play nothing but StarCraft heroes? You'll see that play 2 games with StarCraft heroes quest more often.

I didn't know this until about a month ago, when a Blizzard employee responded to a certain post on Reddit. Apparently they are thinking about changing it, because it leads to "negative feedback loops". Personally I don't mind, because I mainly play QM with the random hero and I get a lot of 3 wins/8 games quests.

And which winrate was that..? Just the number "55%+" out of context is completely meaningless. Sure Blizzard has all the data, but obviously they're filtering for something, if they aren't its even more meaningless. Hotdogs actually has Chen at 55% right now, I went and checked (HL, diamond, last 7 days).

Getting to the point where I'm kind of tired of playing free heroes in QM. I got Muradin and Malfurion out of boxes, but they're both a little simple and boring to play all the time. Anyone have suggestions for a hero to buy? I enjoy support and warrior roles the most. I like being able to disable enemies and seal kills in team fights, and not being too easy to kill. I had been thinking of Arthas. Is that a good place to start?

Kharazim, Rehgar, and Uther are in my opinion the most Warrior-y/Brawl-y supports.

Johanna, ETC, and Stitches are in my opinion the most Support-y/Team Ability-oriented warriors.

All of these heroes are hard to kill, are almost always welcome in any QM random draw, and I think fit the bill of what you're looking for.

Arthas is fun as well though, I don't know how much gold coins you have or what your roster looks like currently.

Sylvanas (7k)
Murky (7k)
Tyrande (4k)
Sonya (4k)
Jaina (4k)
Thrall (4k)
Zagara (4k)
Valla (2k)

Those are all good and fun to play in their own way.

I highly recommend Sonya, fits into nearly any comp, easy to play, strong laning phase so you won't have a horrible time when your premade inevitably sends you on a sololane.

I'm like you that I prefer support and warriors and thus far I've found that Rehgar is my absolute favorite. He can put out some good healing but he is also very versatile and you can easily help your team to finish off kills by using ghost wolf and earth totem. Super fun all-around.

Rehgar is the kill confirmer. Every Rehgar game he has so many kills yet disappointingly low damage done. Being able to wave clear and merc well is a huge part of why he's good, and doing that is even more important for people starting out imo because there's probably more slack to cover.

That does not sync up with HotsLogs data in the slightest, as you've already discovered by pointing out that you have to cherry pick Chen's data down to a specific league and skill band to get data that's close. And it's worth pointing out that neither Kerrigan nor The Butcher are beyond 55% winrate across all filters either.

Anub and Dehaka are both solid choices. Anub is arguably the best warrior in the game with a high skill cap that once you get good with him you will be a massive force to deal with. Dehaka when played correctly has insane sustain, the ability to pull enemies into his team, and an amazing gank and map presence which makes him an autopick on certain maps like blackhearts.

For support Uther would likely fit the bill of your preferred play style.

So I'm watching this HGC bullshit and is Genji really still a big balance issue, or is he just a common pick at this high level of play? I can't tell whether he's broken or just good in the right hands.

Both? Genji in the hands of someone even semi skilled is strong as hell and in the hands of a professional is downright broken.

It doesn't hurt that Genji has seen some pretty heavy nerfs. Before they hit him, he was absolutely first pick first ban all of the time.

You never learn anything
by doing it right.

Genji is like Li Ming if Li Ming traded better teamfighting strength for zero waveclear/pushing power. Genji seems overpowering because he's really good at teamfights, but overall he's only "good" because of his complete lack of utility.

The problem is that so much of the game is reliant on teamfights, moreso ever since the strength of a 1/4 split was discovered and became popular. Specialists (and other characters with heavy waveclear) make up for Genji's lack of strength in a lane very well, so his ultra-weak PvE hardly matters. If the players use teamwork to overcome Genji's weaknesses, his strengths become much more apparent. Teamwork is much more common at higher levels of play, so Genjis at higher levels tend to perform much more strongly over the course of the game than ones that don't have good coordination to back them up.

Genji seems extremely weak in "the game we all play" sense now. He's still good when five professional players draft a composition around him and set him up. I haven't really worried about or been bothered by him in standard matches since he got cranked with nerfs.
