So no 3.0 and no face tracking in 3.0 So all this was was one npc that didn't show up half the time telling people to go get a box then the people pretending to get the box and pretending to fight fake pirates and the pretend rescue people crushing their rover and losing the box in question then pretending they still had the box and fake fighting a big pretend pirate ship that blew up itself to create the illusion that this was a real fight people spend tens of thousands on this thing.....

my fav part is when they had to speedrun through all the excruciatingly boring first part of the demo again after it crashed and how it turned out that all the awful fake banter between the players was scripted as it played again

Anyone who can make twitch-clips (or whatever they're called) of the worst bits will be an internet hero. I've scanned through and caught some flop sweat and that hosed-up ramp bullshit but not much else truly amazing.

now imagine cig doing this instead: Showing a player going to a cargo terminal/vendor, buying a few units of cargo. Going to landingpad, seeing that ship cargo bay now has several containers in it. Flying to another station, going to cargo terminal there and selling the cargo. Going back to ship to see cargo hold now being emtpy. That's it. This would have boosted consumer confidence in the project by several times over.

I believe the biggest issue here is that the Gamescom Demo 2016 was so impressive and groundbreaking that they still haven't been able to even release that to a live build. If the Gamescom Demo 2017 was all I had ever seen by CIG / SC it would really be imprresive (plus minus the bugs and crashes). With FOIP and VOIP even my girlfriend got goosebumps, and up until the first crash after the QT we were both really mindblown.! TL;DR The problem is that the 2016 Demo was too groundbreaking

or imagine this five minute demo: player flies ship to asteroid in belt, shoots mining laser at it, chunks fall off and are scooped up by arm on ship. ore appears in inventory a sane person would have made this demo

Can I just say that I'm having some health problems at the moment that mean I haven't been able to do much for a while but watching the presentation PiP while reading this thread has been amazing. It was worse than I think really any of us expected. Lol

When the pilot's game crashed they couldn't take control of the ship or have the pilot log back in for 15 minutes. On a local server they have full control of including all sorts of admin options. Ready for prime time. Edit tax, this was last year a few days after getting my new dog:
