What other Marvel (or even DC) heroes would be good for the Netflix treatment? I've mentioned Moon Knight repeatedly and think it'd be perfect. Maybe something like Sandman but it'd need a big budget and might work better on HBO. Sgt. Rock or Shang-Chi maybe? The Specter? I still think there's a place for The Shadow since he's never been done well. Wracking my head here... What about Elric?

She-Hulk, although I can't help shudder at how they'd do her green skin and hair with their current budget. Fraction Hawkeye is another obvious choice, but it'd require an actor who's actually tolerable.

I also think people are very good at picking up derivative bullshit at this point, and them doing Shakespearean asides "because Deadpool did it" would probably not go down very well. It's kinda like the swearing for the sake of swearing in Logan - you're R-rated, we get it, doesn't mean you have to copy everything Deadpool did. Defenders already has a blind lawyer, so She-Hulk feels like someone who could be both for TV and the big screen. But then again, we always wanted the two to mix, if it weren't for the dumbasses at Marvel blocking it. She'd be great with JJ as a regular, too.

Slowpoke! posted:Actually now that Stick is dead and all of the Chaste is dead and the Hand is dead, do we really need a S2 of Iron Fist? Can't we just bring him back for Defenders 2 and pretend that he has been integrating back into society as Danny Rand for the past couple years? He can be the Tony Stark of the team, bankrolling their activities while struggling with the fact that he can no longer summon his chi for [reasons]. Danny Rand struggles with it for 6.5 episodes, then Jessica suggests he purchase a Viagra producing company.

Unfortunately, Suicide Squad basically ruined our chances of ever seeing Thunderbolts villains-as-heroes. There's a ton of low-powered villains you could frame a show around. There's a handful of mystical characters like Brother Voodoo or Nico Minoru that could work, but it would come across as Dr Strange on a budget. Blade would be amazing, but I don't think we'll get vampires right after undead ninjas. Moon Knight would be perfect for Netflix. There's really no reason not to. Or Wonderman. Nathan Fillion is nerd catnip.

God drat, I keep hoping. Moench and Sienkiewicz's original 2 or 3 year run was terrific stuff and lends itself perfectly to the "Netflix Style". I looked forward to those and Miller's DD comics more than anything back then. Imagine how much better the Netflix MCU (and Defenders) would be with Marc Spector as "the rich one" instead of Danny Rand.

I actually laughed at the trailer(s) and I seriously doubt that was their intent. I liked the dog. Ghost Rider would work but not sure I'd want him crossing over. I think he's better as a standalone character. EDIT: I mentioned Elric before and used to love the books and the P. Craig Russell graphic novel. Not really a superhero but has anyone every tried to adapt Michael Moorcock's novels into a series or a movie? With GoT kicking so much rear end, I'm surprised no one had pitched it. They've tried Conan a few times. I'd dig a Stormbringer movie or series. BiggerBoat fucked around with this message at 17:43 on Aug 25, 2017 |

It'd be easy to since Blade's daughter is a thing in the comics and her personality/upbringing is different enough from Blade's. They already have a storyline in the comics where about her becoming badass with Blade in the background calling the shots/advisory role stuff if Snipes doesn't want to/is too old for the physical commitment.

The only problem with a Netflix Blade reboot would be that the MCU isn't ready to go full vampires and masquerades. That said, he'd be a fantastic addition if all the vampire stuff is handled off-screen. E: Just treat him as a super sword dude with fangs.

moths posted:The only problem with a Netflix Blade reboot would be that the MCU isn't ready to go full vampires and masquerades. It'd be exactly the same as the existing Netflix shows, where literally none of it pertains to the wider MCU despite being "connected" anyway. Hence why Dr. Strange never talks about K'un Lun, or Iron Man didn't get roped into fighting the Hand even though they threatened to destroy New York City, or Spider-Man didn't acknowledge that there are other NYC-based vigilantes loving poo poo up across town. They could go full vampire with it and use only loose references to greater mythological lore in the MCU, and that'd be fine. Technically, Ghost Rider and the Darkhold already exist in the MCU, so demons and vampires aren't really a stretch. Mostly, I want a Blade series because the first movie is pretty consistent with the style and tone of the Defenders properties already. A supernatural cycle of shows would be amazing...Blade and Moon Knight especially.

Shang-Chi would be good but I know his backstory is a clusterfuck regarding rights around his father. Then again Marvel has been publishing a bunch of old Shang-Chi comics as omnibus collections so maybe it has been cleared up? Honestly with the dumpster fire that IF and Defenders has been, I'd like some other network to be given a shot. Maybe a system where it wasn't so blatant that Marvel higher ups are enforcing their vision and just let creators do their thing.

The comics property I just realized I would loving love to see get a Netflix-style adaptation is Sandman Mystery Theatre. (The one with the Sandman in the 30s and 40s who was just a dude in a gas mask running around solving murders on the strength of nightmares, not the Lord of Dreams.) Or Starman, for that matter.
