So the Olympic Channel is playing the Dream Team games from 1992. Angola vs USA is amazing. 108-46

I forgot Chris Mullin was in this game. 46-1 run by the USA. Barkley is just a dominant force. Laettner is getting all the steals. What a bizarre game.

It's actually almost hard to watch because its not in HD and i guess this is basically experiencing what its like to actually need glasses or something

RPM has a bunch of guys between Irving and IT (who is the worst). Guys like DJ Augustin, Shroeder, Trey Burke. Also IT has some daylight between him and Kyrie in terms of points given.

That said, Boston showed that IT's bad defense wasn't a big deal in the playoffs, and Cleveland has been able to manage Kyrie fairly well. To be honest, that changed my mind about (healthy) IT after the regular season. Overall the concern of "PG Defense got worse" seems like it it's pretty low on the list of concerns.

Oh I know, we've talked about the relative irrelevance of pg defense about 100 times in the last year. I think I said starters so Trey Burke doesn't count. I remember when people were making Rondo comps for Schröeder. I guess Augustin was starting in front of Payton. I don't remember anything about Orlando last year except for big jump dunker Aaron Gordon finally moving to PF at the end of the season and putting up great stats.

There's always the possibility of Kyrie playing tougher defense when it matters, which we've seen tiny flickers of. But he's such a disciple of late stage Kobe that I doubt he or Deroazan will ever do it regularly.

In unrelated matters, I just looked at the Clippers roster. It's going to be interesting to see if Milos Teodosic can do anything or if it's just going to be Beverly with point forward Blake running the offense.

Bill Simmons writes almost exactly like how he would speak if he talked to himself in the mirror, which made reading every page of The Book of Basketball one of the worst slogs I've ever experienced.

Michael Jordan invests in tech startup Gigster

quote:

Gigster, a San Francisco-based provider of automation tools for smart software development, has raised $20 million in Series B funding. Redpoint Ventures led the round, and was joined by Michael Jordan, Marc Benioff, Adam D'Angelo and return backers Andreessen Horowitz, Y Combinator and Sound Ventures.

Why it's a big deal: Large enterprises are turning more to outsourced tech project development as things like machine learning and blockchain gain traction within... Oh, who are we kidding? This round is notable because Michael Jordan is involved — becoming the latest pro athlete to dabble in venture tourism. A company spokesman says the introductions to the NBA all-timer came through two existing Gigster investors: Ashton Kutcher (co-founder of Sound Ventures) and Vivek Ranadivé (who also owns the Sacramento Kings).
Gigster CEO Roger Dickey, via TechCrunch: "He was my childhood hero. It's just fun to have him on the cap table. He didn't put a ton into the round. We thought it'd be cool to have someone involved that we really look up to."
