The protections people get in ICE custody is laughable; there is no right to representation at all (sometimes people are not even given an opportunity to retain any), the standards for action and hilariously bad, and they do poo poo like move people hundreds or thousands of miles to holding locations and make it hard to find that out. US citizens can and have been detained, held, and deported by ICE without any real repercussions or recourse. Not like, it could do that, it already has, more than a few times. I know that the real reason they don't worry is that they're white and they understand ICE isn't going to start detaining them en masse, but it could if someone decided to switch it from a racial bias to a political one.
