After reloading it a few times to figure out what it wants you to do I've got it. With psionic transmitters: -Ignore all enemies at all costs until you get to a relay. If you engage a squad, ignore it. You don't have time. Take potshots with a unit or two, send everyone else up. -There is only one or two relays on your half of the map. There are three or four near the bomb. -The objectives are worded poorly. You only need to put the bomb on the transmitter to stop the countdown (for some reason). You can kill everyone later. -If it's a sewer level every now and then send a soldier back to the start of the map. The line of sight is busted and you may have missed a relay or two. I finished on my fourth try with one turn left. Basically the transmitter missions expect you to unlearn XCOM 2 and relearn what you did on Bomb missions in XCOM 1, but with a third of the time and relays. Also, are priests broken? I engaged one right at the start and it never did anything but double move in circles. e: BTW don't try to be clever and slap a Will PCS mod on a unit who's about to tire out or get a negative trait. It doesn't work.

When I did the relay mission there were plenty of relays on the map. It didn't seem very mad.

Too few soldiers and I forgot to pump rookies into the GTS.

I can't really tell if the Chosen DLC is active or not. I'm about 2-3 hours into a new game and so far everything seems exactly the same as the last time I played XCOM2.

Just started a game, skipped the tutorial, and since the 'archaic weapons' are available as a research option I'm guessing the Alien Hunter DLC quest line isn't going to show up, just the non-story aspects? Was kind of wanting to have that and SLG as part of it. I saw the options at the beginning but they confused me.

If you want to play through the story aspects, then un-select "Integrated DLC" when starting a new campaign; that will allow you to activate the Alien Nest and Lost Towers story missions. Otherwise, they're adjusted to fit their gameplay content into the game without the story mission. Playing around with the fatigue mechanics now, I can see why they would have wanted to disable those by default. Those missions will play absolute hell with your soldiers' stamina. Y'all need to use the double mission timers. Your blood pressure will thank you for it and it attenuates the problems in battlescape since you have time to move more methodically.

Sending tired soldiers out more means they are gonna take longer to get back to peak condition and are more likely to develop negative issues. If you can afford to give them more time off after the mission its not a big deal, but if you are gonna need to keep using them it won't work out.

rabidsquid posted:the chosen not pausing the mission timer on the supply raid missions is beyond annoying and made it impossible to finish the mission with a decent amount of supplies. I ran into a Chosen on a supply raid mission before I even touched the first crate, and Advent didn't lift a single crate out for the entire map, I think because I didn't grab any until I had killed the Chosen and every pod on the map. It might've been a bug, but I think the answer here is to take your time before you claim the first crate, and make sure you know if a Chosen will show up or not.

Good game, but holy poo poo gently caress the Chosen boss fights. I'm not sure if they expect you to go in fully maxed out, but my whole squad ended up as crippled, nervous wrecks after that fight. Two enemies spawning per turn, including a berzerker and an archon while also having to burn down the stupid sarcophagus with its 8,000,000 hp.

Hey, I also finished on my fourth try (or so)! I was stupid and didn't pay attention to the instructions though, so I thought the nodes were explosives and beelined the transmitter with a Reaper. This went better than expected at least after gratuitous save scumming. Are you guaranteed to get an opportunity to rescue a captured operative (from being left behind on a mission, not by the chosen)? My Skirmisher got knocked out by a spectre on the rooftop of an extraction mission with 1 turn left and my squad was so beat up that I didn't want to risk losing anymore of them. I know I can do a covert op to get another one but levelling them up is kind of a pain and he was pretty levelled up. Also, could I have used revival protocol on him to get him up and get rid of the copy or do you have to kill the copy/spectre? Not really sure about what they do, I usually make them top priority so they get a cascade of missiles and grenades to the face, this one just came in quite late and hosed me up.

You can revive Spectered troops, although the copy stays up too. Covert ops giving promotions is pretty nuts. I got an LT and then put him on 3 Ops each giving a promotion and taking 4-7 days and now I have a Colonel

Dang, so I could have just revived him and extracted on the same turn with a specialist and then had him run and extract. Oh well, thanks. That's something to remember. That was probably the worst mission I've had in an Xcom game. Had to bring my mid tier guys cause of tiredness/injury and a surprise MEC rocket barrage took half of them down to 1 HP so the rest of the mission was a cautious creep up and then run to the extraction job.

So the Colonel level Specialist skill that flies around healing and reviving everyone? Does not removed Dazed UNLESS they are also injured. Kinda annoying and seems like it might be a bug, since I am fairly sure Revival protocol does remove Dazed.

Does anyone have any idea what they're doing with the base layout now because I don't. My upper level is the Ring, GTS, Power in that order. Workshop would be under GTS with power and radio on left and right but it costs way more now so welp. Guess I'll renovate in the future. Also is it possible to get more than one Reaper?

GTS does not benefit from being adjacent to a workshop. You want facilities that can slot in engineers for that. If you want more faction heroes, you need to raise influence to high with their respective faction. Then you need to go on a covert ops to get them. Oppurtunity costs have prevented me getting more so far though. Been concentrating on raising influence for more order slots and reducing avatar progress.

RBA Starblade posted:Also is it possible to get more than one Reaper? Yes it is possible to get more than one of each of the hero classes. You will need to improve your influence with the faction (say, help to hunt their paired-off chosen), and then perform a covert ops to actually aquire them. Two of each unit type is the hard cap however.
