Yeah, the percents on the enemy bars update based on where your cursor is. However it's pretty much "do i have sight/are they behind cover" and it shouldn't take long for you to get where you can predict results for everything but long rear end snipes. Also since you get to do so much free damage with slides you're probably going to be in enemies' a bit more than other SRPGs.

Yeah, the number on the overlay above an enemy's head changes as you move the cursor around, though it can be a bit hard to see.

At first I was angry that the sentry can never get close enough to the world 1 boss to explode, but on the last phase I discovered that it can activate the panel.

I found it more useful to have an actual character on the panel. They will take a big hit, but it will keep him from doing his area wide attack and let my other dudes get into position to fire

well now, I managed to Perfect the 1-8 mission. through pure dumb luck. the dash-team jump-stomp combo with Mario is pretty drat useful. as is using Rabbid Peach as bait with her shield and Rabbid Weegee's debuff.

Does anyone know if there's a chest tied behind the challenges? I'm missing one chest in the first world and looked all over.

Kiss the Joycon to Kiss Zelda

I played the first few missions battles when I got home last night, just up till you get to Peach's castle. It's pretty fun so far but it's obvious that I haven't even scratched the surface yet. Even with the couple of abilities I've got so far (Dashing and Team Jumping) there's a fair bit of depth in that you have quite a few options on how to approach the missions battles.

The Quantum Leap challenge battle is amazing. I hope there's more puzzles like this.

Edit: just in case you need a solution: The Southmost character should head up and lure the Northern enemy so that he lines up with the other one. Then Mario should go to his right (between both enemies) and shoot the same one. This should knock him toward the river and over the stationary enemy. Finally, switch to the enemy turn and let Mario get hit again right into the escape zone. Your character on the other landmass never even moves!

yeah it took me a second to notice him out front. I was relieved it wasn't the controls, though being an ubisoft game I wouldn't have been shocked

post-first-boss spoiler: rabbid peach snapping selfies while Rabbid Kong falls to his death with an incredulous look was actually kinda funny. expected to groan, actually smiled

Two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight and barbecue your own drumsticks!

Played a bunch of this last night. Er, well, "played" in that I sat next to my husband while he played. He immediately commandeered the controls and jumped right in to blowing up some Rabbids. We got to try a couple co-op missions and that was super fun! :D Game good, game really good! Tonight perhaps we'll try switching off characters. I want to control Rabbid Peach. She's the best.

I just beat the world 2 boss. Apparently a perfect score means beating it within 10 turns. I, uh... I took more than that.

Sometimes it's a pain with the camera, though. My one big wish for this game's interface is to be able to move and act while the camera's in the top-down "Tacticam" position. Having an enemy's % indicator fly from one obscured edge of the screen to the other as you rotate the battle camera 90 degrees is irritating.

I kind of wish you knew ahead of time. The only missions I've come anywhere close to the limit so far have been the Toad escorts and those are prety much "move Toad the max distance every turn".

Not getting perfects because I take my sweet time killing everything is annoying but it’s also forcing me to really look deeper into the movement system and just how far you can move/jump in one turn.

If you ignore the big guys and just burn the boss down while kiting anything else you do it in 9 easily. Make sure to use Peach's team jump shot refresh.

What are they doing that's beating you? I don't remember doing anything special beyond putting Luigi on the high ground to the left while sending Mario and Rabbid Luigi to dash and stomp everything on the ground.

Well, they destroyed Luigi before he could even REACH the high ground for one. But Sandy's consistently lighting everyone on fire and destroying cover quickly and I just dunno what to do.

Should I take out Rabbid Peach then?

How? He gets there turn one with Itchy feet and a team jump. Just burn Sandy down first then.

You can get Luigi pretty much anywhere turn 1 with itchy feet and/or double team jump. Move teammate 1 to the max range, have teammate 2 go to them and team jump the max range, then Luigi double team jumps. If there is high ground, he will get there turn 1. The only downside to using Itchy Feet is that you can't overwatch when you get to the highground.

If you plan things out right, it's crazy just how much one character is capable of doing in just one turn, let alone three of them. The movement mechanics in this game are really good, and it's in your best interest to learn just what crazy stuff you can pull off with them.

You must be ignoring dash attacks and team jumps entirely - the turn counters are incredibly generous for perfects.

e; at least into the beginning of world 3. The Toad escorts require you to move Toad the full distance every turn with time for 1 delay, and the world 2 boss requires you to ignore the Sloshers in order to make it in time. Otherwise nothing has been close.

You get 1 move (including as many jumps and slides as you can fit into your area), 1 buff, and 1 attack per character per turn. You can do a lot of damage if you plan it right.

What is Beepo supposed to be? Is it a virtual buddy or an actual Roomba robot, or what? Why am I thinking about this more than the developers did?

he's a digital assistant for the macguffin device that starts the game's plot. He gets a physical form in the mushroom kingdom. In terms of design he's basically an anthrpomorphized cursor to give context to the strategic elements of the game.

It appears only through the headset in the intro so presumably the former. Though we know what it actually is, it's just a cursor that they decided to make into a character so they can give it dialogue.

Just unlock weapons that are slightly better than your regular starting weapons (for that character).
