Yes, it's a tradition from my homeland! I can tell you how your day will go! "Excellent" is the best reading, followed by "Great," "Good," "Average," and "Uncertain." However, if your reading is "Poor" or "Horrible," something bad will happen! Wait...something bad? Well, the chances of that are low, so I think it's worth the risk! I think so, at least. Sounds, um, interesting.  Let's give it a whirl!   Um...Okay. It says "Good." That means you'll have good luck today. In what way, exactly? Uh, try smashing rocks? It might go better than usual. I see.The other possible results are Excellent(higher spawn rate of treasure chests in dungeons), Great(higher rate of monster drops), Fishing Luck(fish bite more often), Average(easier time befriending monsters), Uncertain(no effect), Poor(you do less damage in combat), and Horrible(Sakuya takes an extra 800 gold from you). Money's easy enough to come by that I might as well get a fortune every day, but in reality I'm lazy and won't do it that often.    Alvarna is the town from RF2. In between the scene before and the one in this update, it really seems like Sofia's character quirk is the most actively harmful to her. She's still just a child, but she seems a little more grown up. Oh, and she wouldn't stop talking about you. She's "Link did this," and "Link likes that." So much so that it almost made me jealous. What I found works reasonably well for me when dealing with hurricanes is to immediately teleport back home and go to bed. Usually the onset of the hurricane makes sure to water all my crops and as soon as I go to sleep the hurricane ends, saving most of my fields from destruction.

Something Fishy Music: Festival  Fishing contest today! Also I put Link back in normal clothes. Blue clothes, but normal clothes.    But how about I take them to Blaise right before I do that? This is kind of a minor detail but I love that it's called the "Catch The Biggest Fish Contest" instead of just the "Fishing Contest". Just Eat It Music: Summer Another short one today to make up for how much I've been slacking.  Despite all the typhoons, I'm still managing to get some crops out of this season. Not as many as I'd like, but it'll have to do.   Also it's the worst character's birthday today.    Against my better judgement, I give her a pumpkin.  And...well, Marjorie's the quest-giver here, so we probably won't die or be turned into an ant or something. Probably.  Yes. But are you sure? Inviting me to eat with you... Yes, I'm sure. You've taken care of Marian so well. Just--Could you bring a Omelet, a Rice, and a Ketchup?If that sounds like a bizarre dinner menu to you, just know it's a Japanese food thing. What? The second, and much more annoying one, is that we need the same size of milk and egg to make an omelet. My Buffamoo are already making medium milk, but my newly recruited Cluckadoodle is still only laying small eggs, so making an omelet is impossible until medium eggs start happening. Incidentally, since Pia knows our deal now, we can talk to her normally in our Wooly form. Whoopee.    Labelling text boxes properly is hard.  While I'm doing herb/grass gathering things in Privera Forest, I accidentally recruit a Pomme Pomme.  Pomme Pommes are bad at fighting and don't produce anything, but there's no reason to release it unless I need the space. So Ringo gets to stay and be forgotten about.    I've also used up some antidote grass so I can get rid of some of these annoying poison plots. They're not that hard to avoid & poison is really easy to cure, but they're still annoying.   I'm pretty sure I've shown off Raven's diary before, which only had this entry in it earlier. But now that she likes us more, she's written more!   It's a neat detail for a diary you'll probably read once in the 'examine everything in everyone's houses' phase and forget about afterwards.  Tomorrow: An overly complicated flea market.

Flea Market Music: Festival  Today's the Flea Market, which is one of the most involved festivals(relatively speaking) in the game. Everyone in town will be selling stuff, or trading stuff for other stuff, or playing games in exchange for stuff. And I mean everyone. There's also a trading chain to get the top-tier stuff, which you'll see in due time.  20 gold a pop? Clearly garbage.  Gee, if we can't trust Daria, who CAN we trust? Let's do this!   I've been bamboozled. Let's try again!     Sensing a trend? There is a very small chance of getting something good, but I'll show that off later.  Hopefully the small child is more trustworthy.   1 win is a veggie and recipe bread, 2 wins is a flower seed, 3 wins is "a nice tonic", 4 wins is a farm tool, and 5 is the secret prize. I know what I'm aiming for. Savescum powers activate!   The rules aren't all that complicated. Prepare your favorite sacrifice to the RNG, and get going.  Feel free to consult the Rock Paper Scissors LP if you don't understand how to play.   Repeat 4 times...   *sniffle* I-I'm sorry... *chomp*!! Owwww!  So yeah, the secret prize is getting bitten. I'll take the 4 win prize instead, since farming string for the fishing poles is a pain in the rear end.  Shara's selling a couple things that normally don't show up in her store until the fourth dungeon is done. They're also ridiculously cheap compared to normal.  BUY BUY BUY (The emery flower is a spring flower, and the pom pom grass is a fall flower.)   For Flea Market, our resort opens a stall we call "Carmen's Paradise". Pay up front, then you get to see what gift you've bought! You might find a real bargain! How about it? Interested, right? Not really... Well, don't sweat the small stuff! Might as well go for it.  Alright! That's more like it. Well then, you've got three choices. Which do you want? Naturally I'm going to use the power of ~magic~ to see all three.  Top Gift is okay, I guess.   Special Gift is cake.   And Token Gift is a ring.  I go with Special Gift since cake is worth the most. Seriously, look at that price!   Carmen's running her own version of Carmen's Paradise.   The fished item is, shockingly, a fish.  The mystery item is some generic crafting stuff.  And the sparkly item(and also the one I settle for) is a ruby.  Rusk sells exactly what you expect, but with a twist.    It's all being sold cheap enough that you can flip it for a tidy profit. Eat it? Why would we do that? Link gets to cram alarming amounts of simple dishes down his throat for his daily Eating skill points.   Cheap ore? Don't mind if I do.  Marjorie's where those trades I mentioned come in. I don't have the ability to make any of those dishes yet, but I can get two of them from trades around town. And I definitely want those items, since stat boosts and all.   Marian is less than amused if you bullshit her about her own(seemingly terrible) trade.  This is the same deal as Rusk's food, where all of it's being sold for less than we can sell it, but the Curry Rice should be saved to trade for Invincroid instead.  Golden seeds are ridiculously rare. So naturally I'm going to buy both of them. (and not plant them now, because typhoons. The summer ones can go in the desert once typhoon season is over.)  Pia sells some stuff, but also has a trade that makes Marian's trade less ridiculous.  And Sakuya is conveniently selling a Raccoon Leaf for people who don't happen to have one lying around. Trade chain, go!    No time to be alarmed, gotta get this heavy spice over to Pia.   No, thank you.  Sherman is the only person in town not selling or trading anything. How rude.   Why yes, that IS completely ridiculous. So it'll probably sit in the "too awesome to consider using" pile, but hey, I have it!  The love potion is...interesting. I'll show it off later.  Raven's selling accessories. I grab a scarf because why not.     A second use of Heavy Spice appears.   It doesn't actually help in any trade chains, but whatever, I'll take it.  All three of these are pretty good. The critical ring gives increased chance of critical hits, and the silent/paralyze rings grant resistance to seal/paralysis while giving you a chance to seal/paralyze foes yourself.   Evenlyn's got a backup option for getting a raccoon leaf, along with some other goodies. I go with the Platinum since it's in short supply right now.  Same deal as Rusk and Collette's stores.  Cheap seeds, cheap food, and some greenifier I'll probably use at some point.    After many, many, many tries, I get a non-trash item out of Daria's lottery. It's not worth it. At all. Daria, I normally like you, but gently caress you. With all the Flea Market stuff taken care of, let's check in on the settlement.   Fascinating.  Back to town to do a simple request.   tl;dr: Mystery person left this trash here.  I take everything because even the literal trash is worth a gold or two. There was a book that I loved in my youth. There was a courageous hero who wore a cape much like mine. Wearing this cape...It still makes me feel like a hero sometimes. (Wow. I didn't expect that!) One thing I somehow haven't shown off until now is that you can refight bosses to farm their drops.   They don't tend to last very long when you're several dungeons ahead of them.  "This beast that was threatening the settlement is here again all of a sudden. Okay."   I try fighting Skelefang in human form since I can do that now, but the timing's all off for its attack patterns. At least they tuned it really well for the mandatory woolyform fight?  It's 1AM by the time it goes down, so the update ends here. Next time: Why did one-month-ago me do another Marian quest?

For instance the Raccoon drops Raccoon Leafs, which are ATK+8 DEF+7 INT-6(aka 'pretty nuts for the first & most of the second dungeon', and still nice now if you're not casting a whole lot), Amaranthine and Crimsone drop furs that boost magic/physical attack by a lot(double what I can get from ores right now) and magic/physical defense by a little, etc.

I think I know what to do with this.  Thankfully, RF villagers don't get mad about regifting.  Okay. Would you like to try this on? No, I have no idea what horrifying thing she wanted him to wear.  Thanks to boredom and having way too much cash, I decide to spruce up Link's place with some furniture.   And stuffed animals, because why not.    Way too damned many stuffed animals.   Sadly, you can't have literally every piece of decor.   Another outfit change, and now it's time to see what I did to Link's poor house.  Delivery so lazy I bet Karina did it.  Better. Purely decoritive furniture can be moved around at will, but can't be put into your inventory. It also tends to teleport back to the main room if you try to put it anywhere else, even other rooms of the house.  If you want to get rid of it, you have to use a tool to break it down into wood.   Having this much clutter actually makes the game lag a little(and it gets in the way since Link can't walk through it), so I'm going to end up destroying most of the stuff I just bought.   Much more reasonable. Let's check out downstairs, we haven't been there in a while.  Link's trophy collection is actually something to look at now.   They all either commemorate the first time we did specific actions, or winning various festival contests.   For contests with specific minigames, like the Wooly Festival, you can replay them at will here. Mostly handy if you really, really suck at one and need to practice.  Much like skills, there are trophies for goddamned everything.  After a busy day decorating and undecorating, I think Link's earned his rest.

It feels like RF3 is personally attacking me with this line. This update really does seem to kinda highlight the extremes of the "wacky" character writing in the game. Carlos talking about 18 WIELDING was pretty funny and made me smile, but Marian's whole questline and character being "she's grossly irresponsible and likely to poison her friends to death for the hell of it. Please still like her." feels like way too much.

Yeah, by and large they've done pretty well to make the extreme character traits basically harmless, either to themselves or to others, except for Raven's social issues and Marian's potential for accidental murder. Raven's growth in dealing with that seems tied to the main plot, but from the sound of it I'm not sure if Marian will actually lose her big character trait and start letting responsibility get in the way of enthusiasm. As long as the game keeps preventing her from actively hurting anyone they could keep playing it off without fixing the core issue, but it's weird for them to make a big deal about how dangerous she's behaving if that's gonna be the case.
