So this may be a dumb question, but wouldn't shutting down all these hate sites, doxxing all the Nazis at rallies, etc etc. just make them more apt to band together and start some poo poo? Not specifically FR, but all these alt-right and Nazi idiots? Is it crazy to think they'd all get together over a shared  marginalization and start just one large group? I was thinking about this the other day, and there have been a few groups over the course of history that have been formed thanks to the general public driving them underground. Is this a possibility, or am I just misreading things?

What removing hate sites does is make it harder for fascists to congregate, organize, and recruit. Plus it's a symbolic gesture to say that fascists will not be tolerated.

The 90's "patriot" movement achieved something similar by utilizing the persecution-by-the-government narrative after Ruby Ridge and Waco, but quickly re-splintered due to white nationalists being highly unpleasant and hard to get along with. The Oklahoma City bombing did happen partially as a result of this, though, so it's not something that can just be dismissed out of hand. The alt-right only exists because video game discussion forums were too tolerant of fascist messages and lots of alienated and lonely young men began to think of it as a solution to their problems. The less people hear about fascism, the less likely they are to become fascists.

In fact it's kinda worse, because if Nazis get banned from gaming forums they don't get a chance to spread hate to young people. There is nothing implausible about the basic story of Jesus: a guy with a common Roman Judea name who did typical manual labor for most of his life before turning to religion and doing some of his own preaching, and then getting hyped up by his followers until he pulls some stunt to anger the local powerbrokers. Just like there is nothing implausible about the basic story of Mohammed. It's actually far less likely that there was no original guy named, essentially, Josh, then that he was deliberately created by mixing up multiple individuals. Remember we barely have records of emperors and important kings of a lot of that time, so it's hardly surprising that a guy who was only really important to a few hundred-few thousand people tops when he died isn't getting preserved through the ages.
