so far it has not stopped a vip extraction, or a "hack the resistance computer" mission

Yeah, I keep having the Chosen not affect timers and I can't make any sense why. I'm not sure if it's a bug or not.

It stops during some missions, but it's consistently not stopped on missions where you start with the VIP.

Also, the Warlock stunned my guy and then took info and then hosed off.

I dunno what that did, but okay. Thanks for not killing any of my guys.

Thank you, kids. By giving us this lift you're giving a lift to every law-abiding citizen in the world.
I'm pretty sure the timer confusion is that the timer only stops when the Chosen has "directly engaged" you. It's not on the Chosen being summoned, it's when they give their speech, if that makes sense.

Sucks for him that I have the perk that reduces knowledge by 33%, then!

side-note, I lost 5 of 6 in a timer mission underground because sectopods are assholes in that tiny map. I'm more annoyed that I lost 3 mimic pods than my soldiers.

So uh, holy poo poo. The new supply raids. loving fulton-ing crates. And my first one also featured the Lost and the Assassin. I actually killed most ADVENT on the map before the party even started - they had a big fight with the Lost, conveniently clustered around a car. I had Dragunova around, and she's got Remote Start. Then I left concealment, tagged a few crates and the Assassin turned up. Cut up my star Ranger, and I couldn't follow her because I had to clean up ADVENT and Lost in the vicinity. So I un-dazed and medkitted my Ranger. A few turns later in which she murdered herself some Lost, the bitch comes back and cuts up my ranger again. And then she jumps up a fire escape and hides in the completely obvious upper floor window. At which point I just cackled like a madman. Cue Miss Assassin taking a Grenadier frag to the face, followed by a 3 story drop wich lands her within 2 tiles of another car, which promptly goes nuclear thanks to Dragunova. That instant Lost swarm was sooooooooooo worth it. :supaburn:

I walked away from that with my whole team in the infirmary, and my best Ranger now having a chance to panic when seeing a Chosen. But I also walked away with all the goddamn supply crates. Worth.

You might already know, but explosive immunity is misleading. They are only immune to damage from explosions. You can still use them to shred armor or inflict a status effect. And of course you can still blow up their cover as well.

Warlock: I killed a civilian! Soon I will kill all the civilians, for the glory of the Elders!

Bradford: Commander! The Warlock has killed a civilian! We can't let him kill civilians! You should kill him before he kills any more! Try using your guns!

Vahlen: Commander, perhaps you should avoid those tentacles.

Several times now I've had the game behave strangely (even crash!) when using the Templar to destroy objective objects with Rend, like the data transfer pylons, the EMP spike in the defense mission, and so on. Just be safe and shoot it.

The Warlock's rifle ain't bad either. It's basically Bradford's Rifle of Excessive Accessories with Superior everything but an autoloader...which it sacrifices for armor shredding. I got the continent bonus that all weapon mods act as one level higher so it's basically +20 aim/crit shredcanon on a Specialist.

Well Beagle already poured out a mountain of salt yesterday but his campaign is stable now. Joinrbs is at the point where its impossible for him to lose because he's abusing the gently caress out of every OP part of Xcom's arsenal. Multiple psi-troops, multiple fortress templars, frost grenades, mimic beacons, the entire works. He's got so many ways out of any bad situation that its not even fun to watch anymore cause most of the time he can just stasis anything dangerous.

Joinrbs had to do gatecrasher like 12+ times though cause of stuff like this.

So, apparently the Wartlock is just going to summon pairs of specters at me ad nauseum, which isn't an issue as overwatch kills them immediately. The funny bit is a guy just gained a promotion from killing one. Pretty sure it'd be stupid slow to try leveling that way, but I'm honestly surprised they give any exp.

Play on the lowest difficulty. Seriously, it's a game that's all about learning how to tilt luck in your favor. You play on easy/normal, you'll pick it up eventually and even if you don't, the game itself is fun enough even when you're losing.

The tools of a hero mean nothing without a solid core.

Rookie: even if you massively screw up on purpose you can probably salvage anything.
Veteran: you can salvage a lot of stuff that seems bad, but you might wind up stuck or struggling
Commander: It can feel like you're in a cascade of keeping your head above water once things go wrong (and they will go wrong), and a blunder can easily wipe the team, but it's playable.
Legend: Abandon all fun, ye who enter here.

Pick the difficulty that suits how you wanna play. For example I do Commander because I know my way around but I also do stupid stuff and if everyone doesn't get home wounded I take it as an affront. It's a struggle but one I enjoy, someone who played the same with less tolerance for bullshit would probably enjoy it more on Veteran.
