I think you could legitimately make a Prickly City generator that indistinguishable from the real thing. Half of the strips are just the characters either walking through the desert or falling through the air while having an extremely vague dialogue about how bad things are.

I used a random date generator and pulled up 3 strip from this year, taking a panel from each in sequence. This is the worst game ever!

I admit to re-rolling one of them a couple of times because it kept giving me those dumb single stip comics they do where they pretend they have even an ounce of Watterson's charm.Horrible Lurkbeast posted:I want to see this turned into a website and sent to Stantis. I mean, I just don't know that anyone is going to put in the effort. I hate Prickly City probably more than anyone in this thread and even I can't be assed to do more than one of these.

Stultus Maximus posted:in which he shows that he doesn't even understand the fundamental principles of formal logic Okay. So in the first example, Premise 1 is of the form 'All A are B', or equally 'A implies B'. However, in the second argument, Premise 1 is 'A are B', which he's treating as being equivalent to 'All A are B'. However, when most people use 'A are B', people contextually either mean it as meaning 'A implies B' or 'A is equivalent to B'*. His second argument is actually valid in the second case. Now, normally I wouldn't be this kinda pedant about wording, except this is supposed to be an example of formal logic in a book on rhetoric, which is a place where you should be incredibly careful about your goddamn wording of your premises. *or 'there exist many A that are B', 'there is a strong correlation between A and B', or 'shut the hell up about formal logic you know what I mean, Ratoslov.' To be slightly lenient, the second example doesn't specify "all kind people are socialists" which gives a bit of wiggle room.

Um no. You people are falling for his trick. The first one is All A are B, B, therefore A. The second is all A are B, A, therefore B. They are not equivalent. At all. If he wanted them to be it should have been "All people who can swim are plumbers"

I'm not sure what comes after the second example though, so he could go on to explain it. He does not seem to understand existential quantification, or this misrepresents part of his explanation. But I know his arguments are generally based around being a psychopath, so he cannot make sound arguments. While he might claim the previous sentence to be, "not an argument", it says nothing of his own.

DACK FAYDEN posted:I think there's a difference when the culture exists in the present versus the past? It's quite possible I'm biased by knowing how North Korean civilians live but not having information about their weapons program and the sources of information. Well there's a couple things going on here. Most importantly, ancient aliens bullshit denies the ancients any credit for their own accomplishments because it was given to them from on high. The argument in the cartoon is that the exact same thing is happening with North Korea, that they just made their nuclear-armed ICBM out of ready-made parts from a kit and they don't actually have any technical competence of their own. I can't read it any other way. As for your argument, remember that the real reason we supposedly hate North Korea isn't that the country is poor (though TBH you do see a lot of the same racist rhetoric directed toward China and India too) but because the civilians are further impoverished in order to fund their weapon programs. Yes, their capabilities are hampered by a lot by the country's poverty, but the fact remains that miniaturized nuclear weapons, sub-launched ballistic missiles, space launch vehicles,* and ICBMs (among many other capabilities they've developed) aren't commercial off-the-shelf technologies. Even if they're unreliable (and there's not much indication that North Korea's systems are especially unreliable) developing them in the first place is a serious technical achievement that shouldn't be minimized. This post has a pretty good rebuttal to the argument that North Korea is too poor to have developed nukes, imo. It's also worth pointing out that until recently North Korea was a net exporter of expertise to Iran, which you wouldn't expect if North Korea was just a copycat. *Space launches are COTS nowadays, but the rockets themselves are still proprietary hardware.
