Wait, so when you pick up supply drops and the game asks you to go back to hq you get a shop menu? Is that right? Is that the only time you can get that?

What shop menu? You mean like the black market?

e: Also I feel like the fatigue and bond mechanics are great ideas but I'm rotating so many units in now I don't know who they are or what they do.

Yeah I've been looking up ways to get more engineers and I'm seeing loads about checking the BM but also checking a menu at HQ?

In vanilla you can get a shop by clicking the icon on the left side of the HQ location (opposite the one you click on to spend time). This lets you change the bonus you get for scanning at your HQ, and also buy soldiers/scientists/engineers in exchange for supplies.

In War of the Chosen, that shop no longer exists (as far as I can tell). You choose which scanning bonus you want by scanning at a different faction HQ. You can get more soldiers/scientists/engineers from the Black Market, scan sites, or covert ops.

Sometimes they don't reload their guns after being captured, that might be it.

When should you attack your first Chosen's base? Plasma weapons?

A bunch of cosmetic mods have been updated for War of the Chosen.

Mass Effect Legion, Tali and Garrus squadmates
Metal Gear Solid Jungle Fatigues
Warden Gear
Stenchfury's modular helmets and armor
Halo customizable armors and Halo Reach helmets
XXL Tattoo
Capnbubs
Titanfall Gear
MGS Sneaksuits

And a bunch more. Go look around on the Workshop.

Sylink posted:

Not that hard; someone made a mod almost immediately to add their flamethrower as a weapon we can equip. Technically counts as a Shotgun, so only rangers (of the base classes) can equip it.

Capnbubs Accessories is good. Way better helmets than vanilla and berets. Everyone Major and up gets a beret. That's the rules.

Had a sitrep where i could only take 3 guys to a mission, so i took a psy dude, my skirmisher and my badass ranger.

Started the mission, had five dudes. Advent guy on my side and a resistance guy on my side from my bonuses had both chosen that mission to show up. Dominated the first guy I saw, was basically using a normal squad.

Going after the second Chosen is weird. When you start the mission Bradford is all "Ok we got one let's kill the next", but when you get to his macguffin -which is the exact same- Tygan etc is all "What is this?!?! Maybe it's related to how the Chosen work???"
Seems strange they account for it in one set of VO and not in the other.

Someone up thread took out one with conventional weapons, and given that between now and developing plasma the Chosen get more strengths to cover their weakness, that may not be the worst idea if you can pull it off.

I did not buy the DLC, but since it's release my game has gone from running smooth at the highest graphics settings to 20 fps at minimal settings. What the hell happened?

They're worth playing but if you restart a lot turn them off after the first time.

Also wow you can play forever with covert ops. They can reduce the timer by 2 and give you leads! Too bad about the capture dark event.

Something to keep in mind for the SPARK mission though, is due to how the fatigue mechanic works in War of the Chosen and the structure of the scenario, by the end the will of your soldiers is going to be empty.

I wish the GTS and Proving Grounds were the same building or something. There's so much cool stuff in the proving grounds that I never get around to using because it's hard to justify building it and spending resources on it when there is so much other important stuff to do early-mid game. I'd love to play around with the exo suits and spider armor when I'm rocking ballistics, and buying a SPARK at this point would just be for funsies, not a game-changer.

On Ironman Commander I favor building the GTS->Resistance Ring-> Proving Grounds as my first three facilities. The edge provided by Frost Grenades, Hunters Axe, and experimental ammos are essential imo.

Getting an early SPARK also makes life way loving easier with the fatigue system.

I really gotta build that Shadow Chamber. Went on a VIP rescue that went totally sideways after running into my first Sectopod and advanced MEC right off the bat, and what's worse I left my EMP/Bluescreen heavy back at base. The VIP got smoked in the opening two turns and I only got out by ringing the Lost dinner bell AND managing to hack the Sectopod with ~27% odds. I even hauled out the unfortunate squaddie who died at the finish line carrying tracer rounds.

Then I lost contact with East Asia and half my income so gently caress that, and gently caress you Templars for sending me on that suicide run.

It's when a character's Will bottoms out mid-mission. Partial reductions are how you end up with Tired status between missions and why a good SPARK is a worthwhile investment.

I've nearly got power armour and I've killed one chosen and I haven't even touched any rulers. There's so much poo poo left to do.
