Yes. However, GW also released a free pdf with all of the legacy teams that had yet to be released/updated.

Did the legacy PDF also include the rules for the teams they released in Death Zone?

No, it did not. However, few of the legacy teams were changed from their LRB6 incarnations and those are but a quick google search away.

Goblins have been changed the most simply by gaining two new positionals though they're in Death Zone II.

Lol no

Nor did it include the league play rules.

Support for free for old models was very cool, but it doesn't touch anything in death zone.

So that's kind of what I'm implying. The rules in the box may only cover those two gangs and you might have to pay extra for the other gangs. And if that ends up being the case I'll die laughing.

If they treat the box as an introduction to the game but they have a hardback book with the complete rules, gangs, and campaign rules I'll be happy. I just don't want to have to have 3 or 4 individual pamphlets to get the full rules to the game. That's bullshit and is just a way for GW to nickle and dime the customers and it's why I skipped out on the new Blood Bowl.

I don't think asking for one book with all the rules, a product they've literally sold in the past, is a ridiculous demand. It was stupid when they broke up Blood Bowl and it will be stupid if that's how they do Necromunda.

I'm not opposed to legitimate expansions when they're actual new content like what the old expansions were. But after a year or two it just makes sense to release a revised book with all extant rules and errata included. And GW has done this before. I'm hoping Blood Bowl wasn't the start of a trend where they're creating artificial expansions just to sell extra books.

I guess I'm pretty benign to the idea and can understand why they want a self-contained box. The new Blood Bowl is $105 for the box set and Season 1 with all the league play rules, which seems like a decent price for what you get.

But you can do a self-contained set that has a real rulebook in it. All they'd have to do is print a quickstart pamphlet that focused exclusively on the contents in the box.

You get that this is a company selling a product right? I'm not obligated to give them my money when I don't see value in the product or they make it a pain the rear end to assemble all the rules necessary to actually play their game.

Look at Blood Bowl. The core rules cover only the box, rules for additional teams were across the first supplement and a pdf, and the actual campaign rules, the whole reason people even play the game, were in the extra supplement as well. None of these books was particularly thick and every rule and roster have been printed together previously and included in the last box set. Just make the main book more expensive if it is really about finances. I'm happy to pay for the convenience.

I don't think "I want one book with all the rules in it" is unreasonable when there's not really a compelling reason to split them up.

Yeah, but at least with Infinity the rules are legit free. And even if you can't be arsed to download them, pretty much everything is on the Wiki, which is also both free and actively maintained.

It's not unreasonable, deciding how to spend disposable income doesn't have to have solid data points. But considering that you can get everything with the box set and one rulebook for $100, I'm sure you can see the flip side why most of us don't consider it a big deal, or much of a cash grab. If all you want are the rules because you have all the other components, the digital versions are $19.99. The PDFs were just a courtesy that provides rules for teams that aren't even in production (yet?) that people own models for. As far as cash grabs go in the tabletop gaming world, I'll take ones like this over most of the others we see.

I guess I'm looking at it from the perspective of every other miniatures game out there. The starter box is an all in one experience for two people to start playing right away. However, you may not want two factions or you don't like the factions in the box. That's fine, you can still get the book on its own, whatever tokens or dice you'll need, and a faction starter.

We don't know for sure what Necromunda is going to look like at launch or what all we'll need. I'm trying to be optimistic. But I'm not interested in the tiles version of the game (hard to get enthusiastic for 2D Deadzone) and those two gangs aren't ones I'm interested in. I'd be happy to pick up a book and tokens and use my old models until my faction gets some new figures and then I'll add those to my collection.

So we'll wait and see I guess.

I guess the main issue is whether they release the rulebook separately. They didn't with BB but that game features a lot of stuff necessary to play it (pitches and range ruler mainly) - in Necromunda it's easy enough to get by with existing stuff (templates look to be the same ones from 3-7th ed 40k and most games clubs will have loads, the special dice look to be easily replaced by a chart, etc.).

This is how I feel basically. I've been frustrated by the fact that the Blood Bowl rulebook isn't available separately and I just forked over £20 to get one on eBay because I'm sick of asking people at the club about rules. I'm playing loads more now than ever before so I'm sure I'll get my :10bux::10bux: worth out it so I don't mind too much. I have no interest in either of the box teams so I really didn't need the rest.

Necro could go a similar way and that would be annoying. Hopefully they release rules separately. If they don't, however, it's not going to kill my interest in the game.

I don't know what your problem with me is or where it comes from, but it is very unfortunate. I would like to think that I am entirely reasonable when it comes to both playing and discussing the hobby, if not, dare I say it, delightful. I don't mean to be patronising but perhaps if you approached discussions in a more even handed way, with less emotion and preconceived negativity, you would find less to irk you.

I like small, pocket size rule books that just have the rules I need.

I haven't bought anything new for Blood Bowl but I've got a ton people to play with so that's a win. Some people bought the box set, some got a new team, some bought dice or pitches.

I'm getting the Necromunda box because I want the Escher and the tiles. If I didn't want new minis and I only wanted to play on 3D terrain, I'd still be excited because I'm hoping it's fun and I'll have a bunch of people to play with.

They are making a complete game to sell to hobbyists and mainstream boardgamers alike. For a non-wargamer buying the box it would be pretty strange to find a load of rules for things that aren't in the box and which they aren't going to be able to proxy using Meeples and the Monopoly shoe.

This is how I see it. They can pretend they're board games all they want, but they're really not. And I and the other thousands of kids who got sets like this for Christmas knew full well that it was a starter only and that we'd have to buy additional models for the "full game".

They could definitely make a version that was a board game, for Blood Bowl or the new tiles Necromunda, but as long as the figures are highly detailed multi part kits there's not much point in hamstringing the rules so as "not to confuse people".

Ehhhh. I see what you're getting at, but the Specialist Games definitely attract a crowd that aren't necessarily war gamers. They're basically trying to make all the games complete out of the box experiences, like Space Hulk. But hey, if it's not for you it's not for you, people have been playing Necromunda for years without having this new shiny edition.
