Yes because some require a certain time of day or Haruka to be with you, however they're all available in Premium Adventure after you finish the game afaik.
Also one of the early CP items is an accessory that makes side stories show up on the map.

Awesome thanks

Decided to go back and finish my probably more than 3/4 complete play through of Yakuza 3 that I haven't touched since the middle of last year, nothing can go wrong with this.

I think the hardest thing for me to adjust to in this game is not having infinite money anymore. I just went to the pharmacy and filled my pockets with Staminan Royale amd then realized i just spent 80% of my cash with no immediate route to replace it.

Collect a bunch of the locker keys and get the gambling items out of them. They'll each allow you to cheat the game once, which lets you double your money or more. Go in with max bets and you'll generally get a decent amount of working cash.

How do weapon mods work again in Yakuza 3? I've got recipes but I've no idea how/where to use them, I thought it might be at the arms dealer but I can only sell and buy stuff there.

Is there a proper bulletproof vest available in Kiwami? I have the bulletproof amulet or whatever it's called, but even though it reduces the damage from bullets it doesn't prevent Kiryu from falling on his rear end when he gets shot. I can see that becoming a problem in a certain rooftop fight.

Not that I saw, other than the skill that stops you flinching from bullets in Climax Heat mode. And yes that boss sucked and was a pain in the arse.

Man, I forgot how much it sucked to fight literally any big bad with a weapon in these games. It's gotten better since, but drat some of these boss encounters are unreasonable. Somehow the alley full of goobers with bladed weapons was easier for me than the room full of unarmed goobers and one boss with a knife. Go figure.

Also, I honestly don't remember the Coliseum being this unreasonably hard before. Some of these dudes are basically impossible.

Also also: I was checking the trophies, and there's one for walking 1km while holding Haruka's hand and I honestly can't wait to earn it.

If you talk to the weapons dealer in West Park after a certain chapter (I forget which) he'll sell an accessory called "High Tech Armguards". Buy them immediately because it will let you block bladed weapons with your bare hands

I got this one while doing the "Earn Haruka's trust" minigame. It's kinda cute, but it does take a while.

Mind you, that whole questline or whatever it is is a bloody pain. Some of her clues don't give you enough direction, and some involve gambling and I just don't believe the game plays all that fair with cards. Also Koi-koi makes nooooooo goddamn sense.

On the moon... they don't make Neo Kobe Pizza.

I have played Koi-Koi across every Yakuza game that's offered it and not once have I learned how to actually play it. I just pick random cards on the highest payout mode possible and randomly win until I get the Completion mark on it.

This is good to know. I'll check pretty much immediately once I start playing again.

Oh, I'm not being sarcastic about that. Holding hands with Haruka and just playing crane games for hours was one of the few things that stuck with me about the first game, and it's because it was adorable.

As far as minigames go, I really only understand the stuff that's in regular casinos, and the evens/odds game. I managed to get decent enough at Mahjong this time around, but I still don't fully understand it or know specific hands, I still can't keep Shogi pieces straight long enough to properly learn the rules, and everything else is mostly beyond me.

This does not make sense when, again, aggregate indicia also indicate improvements. The belief that things are worse is false. It remains false.
I hope the Yakuza games continue to progress into more and more culturally obscure and complex games. I want to play some sort of terrifying sanskrit Sino-Japanese whist fusion from 300 BCE.

For anyone who played Kiwami on import before the localisation came out (and understands Japanese... which I believe is like 3 goons) how much of Rina's dialogue/story in the hostess quest is there in the original, and how much of the English version is the localisation team trying to salvage things?

my biggest problem with the game is that majima gives you so much xp just for trying to complete the dragon style, that i had around 8000 bars of xp and nothing to use it on at the end of the game. really feels they could've exported 0's stat boost wheel, if only because some bosses just have too much health.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I was doing that for awhile as well. And random street fights are still pretty much a breeze. But pretty much the first time you get a boss who has an indestructible knife that you also can't kick out of your hands, everything you've learned about stomping dudes stops mattering.

The fight designs just feel like they're from a 12 year old game. It's jarring. You stomp groups of random people into the ground then you fight five times the numbers in a boss encounter and you can barely get a hit in without getting stunlocked. Kiryu just doesn't have any good crowd control styles like Majima did. Beast worked in 0 because the fights were designed around those styles, in this one they're designed around what you had in the original game (and I'm not sure if the fights were even considered good back then). That and it also feels like Rush got toned down from 0. I remember using that style almost all the time because it was darn good.

Beast, square square hold triangle. Trashes groups and bosses not in the arena. Also works great on majima if you don't have tiger drop yet

One thing I'm a bit disappointed by in this game. In the Japanese version during the final fight with Shimano and his goons the song that plays in the background is a remix of Receive You, but in the US version it's just some generic fight music.

There is the weapon dealer van in Ryukyu and then Kamiyama works inside the shopping arcade there, and then in Kamurocho when you get there.

Am I misremembering, or did Nishiki shift from "aniki" to "kyoudai" when addressing Kiryu? Because if so, that's a pretty subtle shift that doesn't quite come through in the English. If not, I might be thinking too much about this.
