I would imagine the organization is still for hire, but I bet they no longer have anyone on the payroll.

Or release the transcript to a speech you gave that's fairly innocuous judging by the leaks instead of being weird and Nixonian about it. Oh, we're talking about the Daou's. It's... just a society of weirdos.

etalian posted:But wasn't Bernie's tax ideas focused on making rich people and corporations pay their fair share? Like, what she said might make sense if you assume "middle class" is people making low six-figures and maybe high 5-figures, but ultimately the vast majority of money is earned by the top 20% (and that's assuming you're unwilling to institute a wealth tax) and there's not much of a reason to need to siphon money from the lower 80%. And of course that's not considering the fact that the "middle class" would be paying higher taxes in exchange for a drastic reduction in an existing cost, resulting in lower overall costs. I think Hillary was/is operating on the dated assumption that tax increases are inherently politically impossible. edit: Like, at the very least, the idea of taxing the bottom 50% is intrinsically absurd. SKULL.GIF posted:https://twitter.com/KamalaHarris/status/905170435440074752 I feel like the harm from this sort of thing is that it implies that ending DACA might be something worth consideration if it actually had positive economic implications. It basically sets the rhetorical landscape up such that in the future a person could make arguments along the lines of "_________ might be morally good, but it has negative economic implications so we either shouldn't do it or should find a 'compromise'." Like, the implication is that the net appeal is a function of morality and economic implications*. *I mean, this is technically true, but in practice virtually all economic costs for beneficial policy could be offloaded onto the top 20% or so, and there's absolutely no reason to ever tax the bottom 50% of Americans, since they control such an absurdly tiny portion of the nation's wealth.

zegermans posted:Why are leftists so mad at Hamilton I think it's not so much Hamilton itself as the reaction to Hamilton by liberals/the media. The completely ridiculous amount of gushing praise towards Hamilton was downright surreal at times. Not that Hamilton doesn't have its own problems, like the frankly bizarre use of minority performers to portray people who were pretty terrible (even if they may have been better than some of their contemporary peers).

I truly don't understand why mods aren't tougher on old Zegermans All he does is troll. I got a month+ probe for telling ZDR that my opinion was that the ACA wasn't a real solution. He just trolls all day, multiple threads, and only gets a sixer here and there. He really sucks and is a really toxic poster, way more than anyone in any CSPAM threads. I don't get it
