lol, from a story on the sidebar to that one:

quote:

Hillary Clinton criticized former Vice President Joe Biden in her new book for his assessment that Democrats did not focus on the middle class during the presidential race.

The Democratic nominee defeated by President Trump writes that she found Biden's comments "remarkable" given his own campaigning for her, in which he talked about what she would do for the middle class.

"Joe Biden said the Democratic Party in 2016 'did not talk about what it always stood for — and that was how to maintain a burgeoning middle class,'" Clinton said in her new book, "What Happened," which was obtained by CNN.

"I find this fairly remarkable, considering that Joe himself campaigned for me all over the Midwest and talked plenty about the middle class," she continued.

***

The former nominee even points at former President Barack Obama, saying he could have put out a stronger response to Russia's efforts to influence the outcome of the election.

I think this is a consequence of bad-dems' mean-testing social programs.

Like, I can see those who made a smidgen over the expanded-medicaid cutoff pissed that earning $17,000/year = $7,000/year deductibles bc they can only afford premiums for a lovely bronze plan under the ACA. And bc they don't qualify for expanded medicaid, they've been told they're middle-class (160 percent of the federal poverty index = "you're not a poor, and can afford to pay half of your annual net income toward medical costs").

And when a state like CA provides medicaid to undocumented citizens it just amps up the anti-immigrant fervor.

But the solution isn't to focus on "real jobs"; that just leads to meaningless pap like "employer tax credits for more jobs training." Rather than third-waying themselves out of the consequences of their past legislative actions Dems need to make the case for universal social programs.

not just universal, but simple

medicaid expansion is better than exchanges, because if you qualify, you just get the benefit without having to do all this bullshit comparison shopping and predicting of what your cost of all medical expenses will be over the next year

Because it's Not Her Fault. No matter that she claims to take responsibility or whatever, that's just her way of representing herself as the mature adult in the room. It's their fault, them, those guys over there who let her down somehow. If they'd done what they should, she'd have won, and what's worse, some of them have obliquely admitted that, you know, the Dems hosed up bad in 2016 which sounds an awful lot like saying it really is her fault.

well, yeah... but my point is that bad-dems themselves conflate the "who is middle class?" issue by lumping in $17k/year workers with lawyers spending thousands per month on household help.

this was particularly stark when obama and other bad-dems refused to restore tax rates on "middle-class workers" making $250k/year.

Yeah, but there's definitely something to it. Liberals love elite institutions (Hogwarts). They love the meritocracy (point system). They love not ever engaging with material conditions (isn't Harry always rich?).

Why do libertarians love South Park? Why do leftists love absurdist humor? Why are conservatives unfuckable, humorless idiots?

Like, I don't get what the point of this is, other than to lash out at everyone and everything. Is she saying that Joe Biden was her entire campaign? Is she saying that him talking about something means she shouldn't have had to do it as well? What a weird thing to go off on someone for.

I'd ask if this book was edited at all, but honestly an objective editor would have told her "I don't think you should publish this at all" and then gotten fired and replaced with a yes-man

Muggle (Britain) and No-Maj[1] (United States, pl. No-Majs or No-Majes) are Wizarding cultural terms describing a person who is born to two non-magical parents and is incapable of performing magic. Although most muggles are the offspring of two muggles, the offspring of two squibs or of a squib and a muggle would be, by definition, a muggle. Muggles are not to be confused with Squibs, who also lack magic but are born to at least one magical parent.

Yes, it's a nominally public school that is funded by the government but chooses who it will or will not accept and grant education to with impunity and without regulation, meaning that not only is it a charter school, it's a bad charter school

It should have wizard special-ed at least (for muggles)
