At least they actually filed a police report about it instead of posting on twitter about them being "attacked."

a credit bureau, whose core consumer-facing business is credit monitoring, gets "hacked" and receives tons of news coverage, gives everyone "free" "credit monitoring" for 12 months

at the end of the 12 months sends out a bunch of emails telling people that their credit monitoring is going to expire soon and for the low low price of $9.99 a month they can keep getting the same peace of mind and protection

One of the insider traders is named "Rodolfo Ploder" (President of Workforce Solutions) and that sounds ETHNIC! so perhaps this lawless, dusky thug may soon be brought to justice?

my favorite part is knowing since july 29th & this

quote:

SEC filings show that three Equifax executives – Chief Financial Officer John Gamble Jr., workforce solutions president Rodolfo Ploder and U.S. information solutions president Joseph Loughran – sold nearly $2 million in shares in the company days after the cyberattack was discovered. It was unclear whether their share sales had anything to do with the breach. An Equifax spokeswoman didn't immediately respond to a request for comment.

if you're a listed exec then "no reason" better mean "because the 10b5-1 I filed more than six months previously says so".

it was either an honest mistake or an odd coincidence

i mean, we've all been there, right? accidentally unloading 2 million dollars of company stock into cold hard cash in the 24 hour news cycle and whatnot.

I don't understand why you'd sell your stock because of a breach though, breaches never seem to have much of a lasting impact on price.

What am I missing?

istr from the target breach it did knock 10% or so off the price for a couple of months before everyone realised what a wet fart the restitution was going to be and that the breach hadn't effected customer numbers at all

if i were in their position (including the total lack of both ethics and understanding of how traceable this poo poo is) i'd probably do the same thing as a hedge, presuming they didn't sell off their entire holding

they've had breaches in 15, 16 & 17 (may) so maybe they expect a bigger blowback

there's also that brony one that shows up in this thread too who i refuse to follow on principle
