the reveal is a big part of Apple's Keynotes

i hardly ever notice huge leaks like this from other big presenters like Google or MS

edit: Apple's secrecy is a big deal, considering people are paid to dig through their software looking for leaks

which is inapplicable in this instance because working hard on software is a contradiction

even so, tim is still complicit for allowing the leak to happen because of his poor leadership

uh, in what way? the production firmware includes everything that goes on a device. it wouldn't make sense if it didn't.

LOL that apple thought mere "unguessable" URLs without authentication would save them from any more leaked firmware. apparently all you need to download the ios 11 GM is the URL

and now tuesday's event has been spoiled. wonder if apple is gonna put steve troughton-smith on their shitlist.

a random URL (served over https) is not really much different from a random user/pass for an sftp server or something.

nobody guessed or searched for this, it was intentionally leaked

how is a random 16 character URL (served over https so it's not getting cached or proxied by something) different from a 16 character password for an sftp account?

it was leaked by just giving out the URL. anyone who had the URL (before Apple pulled it) could download the iOS 11 GM.

we monitor many frequencies. we listen always. came a voice, out of the babel of tongues, speaking to us. it played us a mighty dub.
as opposed to leaked by giving out credentials and a url

if they're shared credentials it's not really any different. and they could always use unique randomly generated urls for each person instead
