Birds are just like humans. Some are cool and nice, some are funny, some are assholes.

Most parrots go through a stage at around the age of two which is pretty much like adolescence is in humans - they get rowdy, destructive and rebellious. They also take up 'hangin out' at the mall, as pictured above.

Inescapable Duck posted:It's kinda funny as an Australian seeing American reactions to cockatoos, where they're native here. They are indeed assholes, like 5 year olds with wings and razor claws and beaks who live for up to a century or more and can be taught to swear. And every time I see on the news that some bastard's been caught trying to smuggle a dozen cockatoos in their luggage because they fetch thousands of dollars each overseas and I'm just like, "Whyyyyyy?"

The trick is to put the cockatoo in a bag and shuv it right up your bunghole.

I own a completely earnest coffee pot that this woman could have designed. It has a ridge around the inside edge that dams the coffee when you try to pour it until it reaches its threshold and spills over way too fast. There is a magic angle you can pour it at which doesn't make a giant mess, but there is no way to stop it from dribbling because the spout is not wide or deep enough to ever accommodate that much liquid. vv

I was just having another look at https://www.theuncomfortable.com/ and saw this line in the designer's 'about' section:quote:My goal is to deconstruct the invisible design language of simple everyday objects and tweak their fundamental properties in order to surprise you and make you laugh. But also to help you appreciate the complexity and depth of interactions with the simplest of objects around us. Goal achieved ten times over as far as I'm concerned; her designs are wonderfully funny, annoying and they really do make you appreciate the processes that produced so many of the things we use every day. Also coffee and teapots that fail one of their fundamental requirements - which is to pour well, are depressingly common.

I wish there was a way to artisanally blow a glass such as when tilted it ejects a quantum of red wine directly into the eyes of the drinker, or any direction, for absolutely no reason.
