I got Monster of the Week, the genre tv show RPG that Griffin's going to use for his teen monster hunter game in TAZ the fact that a game based around emulating Supernatural, X-Files, and Buffy has a mechanic built in that goes "don't make your game/show run too long or you'll run out of Luck" is pretty great

I have social anxiety and consider myself fairly empathetic as well, but I can take it. Maybe it's about finding more joy in the jokes than pain in the awkwardness. So I guess I heartily disagree that empathetic people can't enjoy awkward moments.

Have you only tried watching season 1 or something? After that the characters become more and more like caricatures and basically lack social awareness to be embarassed about anything they do.

I have never heard of Always Sunny being classified as "cringe humor" before. Like, I know what you're referring to, but I've never gotten that feeling from the show because the characters are universally loving awful people. They will always make the worst decisions, and they will always get and deserve the worst possible consequences.

It's not about the characters themselves being embarrassed. Ricky Gervais' character in the Office often doesn't totally get what he's doing wrong. It's just identifying too much with social awkwardness. Always Sunny is almost an exception. I'm mostly fine with it because the characters and situations are often so cartoonish and horrible, I can't overly empathize with it.

I'm able to handle Archer pretty well, so it's surprising to me that I couldn't bring myself to keep watching Sunny.

The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret, now there is cringe humor.

also you should probably try not to be so empathetic that you can, in any way whatsoever, even mildly identify with those characters because they're all loving ghoulish monsters edit: y'all should try making it through a single episode of Nathan For You, now there's some loving cringe humor. You'll be praying for the sweet release of death by the end if you don't straight up drop dead in the middle of it. Crocoswine fucked around with this message at 06:13 on Sep 13, 2017 |

Yeah, I love some cringe humour, and love Nathan for You, but I don't think I've ever made it through a full episode without having to pause it from cringing too hard.

For me the empathetic part is that I hate shows about terrible people. "You are supposed to laugh when bad things happen to them" is usually the explanation, but really I just have no idea why I am spending time watching people I hate. Seinfeld and It's Always Sunny are the best examples, but things like Arrested Development falls into it too.

I get what you're saying. It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia is one of my favorite shows, but there are a lot of episodes I can't rewatch because they just make me feel too uncomfortable. There's quite a few other movie and TV shows that I can't enjoy not because they're not good, but because they give me that same uncomfortable feeling. I'm not sure that empathetic is the right word for it though? It's more like second hand anxiety, I guess.

The best TAZ Neverwinter High cosplay/fanart would be relatively normal looking (if sulky) teens wearing cartoonishly exaggerated looks-like-the-costume-is-devouring-the-wearer versions of their future selves.
