I'd be OK with this, if instead of a giant jersey they just have a video screen of Ovi dancing in a No. 8 Eastern Motors jersey.

Kinda (for the Blues).

They have about 6 numbers retired, but then did the honor thing for #7.

Nah they're actually retiring some older guys numbers that maybe should have been retired before now. They're retiring Ratelle's number 19 this year and he's a HOFer. They also co-retired number 9 for both Bathgate and Graves which is kind of dumb but is better than just retiring it for Graves

Sounds like the Rangers rookie tournament was a big wet fart from them but oh well, these tourney's are barely meaningful at all. I think I recall Hagelin having a pretty mediocre one before going on to have a pretty successful career

Somebody has to do the scoring around here.
Penguins have only retired Lemieux and Briere, who was killed in a car accident after his rookie season of 1971.

However, I didn't realize until just a bit ago that Lemieux's was the first number retired after he retired the first time, not the guy who died in 1971.

They might have to retire Jagr's this season.

And someday, Jagr will join them when he finally retires.

So likely a few years after after 87 and 71 are raised to the rafters.

I feel like Hextall should get 27 retired. It always feels weird when you have scrubs like Max Talbot and Bruno Gervais with it. Who knows, maybe if he builds a Cup winner they will.

Put Ron Hextall in the Hall of Fame.

Also my thought is the only prospect D-men with any real shot of making the Flyers at the beginning of the year are Morin and Hagg. Sanheim I think will get a call up later in the season, but I don't think Myers or Friedman have any shot of a callup this season unless they dominate or there's a series of injuries.

Their whole big dumb thing was not wanting to pay him more than Marchand and Bergeron, even though Krejci makes more than them, because of some dumb culture thing they have with veterans/leaders/whatever.

Marchand said a few days ago he doesn't care if Pasta makes more than he does.
