NANI?

Has anyone mentioned whether CryBaby has an original story or if it's a straight adaptation of the manga? There's definitely manga bits in that trailer but I dunno if it's gonna be a flashback or whatever.

I'm really hoping it's a re-imagining. I also hope that Kouki Uchiyama can at least sound into it when not doing the shouting.

There's not a lot of Go Nagai stuff licensed, is there? Maybe if this sells well Seven Seas will do more nice hardcover Go Nagai manga.

i appreciate cutie honey for re:cutie honey being one of the best ovas ever made and shin cutie honey having some cool bits, but i bounced off the original manga itself very, very hard so be aware if you're taking a look at it based on that stuff that it's, uh, not as good

CR and Sakugablog were nice enough to post the entire badass fight scene from last week's Boruto so that it's easy to share

https://twitter.com/Crunchyroll/status/908091442458804224

also featured is a short cut from that week's super cool episode of 18if, which is definitely worth a look once it finishes and a list of which eps are worth watching emerges.

EXCLUSIVE: Sony’s adaptation of Robotech found its director in Andy Muschietti back in July, and now Jason Fuchs is on board to write the screenplay for the feature based on the popular 1980s anime TV series.

Related'It' Director Andy Muschietti Set To Helm 'Robotech' For Sony
Fuchs, who co-wrote the story for Warner Bros’ Wonder Woman with Zack Snyder and Allan Heinberg, will be working with Muschietti to create the new Robotech from scratch, I’ve learned.

The high-priority Robotech takes place in an era when Earth has developed giant robots from the technology of an alien spacecraft that crashed on a South Pacific island. The residents of the third planet from the sun now are using that converted tech to fight off an impending alien invasion – aka big tentpole stuff.

Based on the TV show from Harmony Gold USA and Japan’s Tatsunoko Productions, the big-screen version of Robotech will be produced by Barbara Muschietti, Andy’s sister and creative partner; 300 producer Mark Canton; and Gianni Nunnari. David Hopwood will be overseeing for Canton, while Shannon Gaulding is doing the same for Hollywood Gang. Frank and Jehan Agrama, who produced the original TV series, brought the project in.

Having made his blockbuster bones with Ice Age: Continental Drift in 2012, Fuchs saw his Pan script hit the Black List the following year. Directed by Joe Wright, the Peter Pan prequel of sorts came out in 2015.

Uhhhhh...........

Look, why won't hollywood adaptations of anime look at the success stories instead of the failures?

Failures: DBZ:Evolution, Avatar, Death Note
Successes: Inception, Edge of Tomorrow

Stop making direct adaptations

I mean, I haven't seen any of them - or will I ever - but from previews and everything I've heard about them I wouldn't exactly call any of those failures direct adaptations either. Maaaaybe Death Note, but wasn't that a lovely Netflix made-for-tv one?

edit: Really, whether direct adaptation or simply inspired the real lesson from those works is just that you need to put actual, competent effort and direction into a project. Of course, Hollywood being Hollywood they can't figure that out in regards to these properties.
