Ugly In The Morning posted:Her not being Asian worked in the character arc of Dr Strange, though, in that she was another white person butting into the monastery and abusing the powers within, and not abusing that power was a big part of Stranges character development. It's not like the movie opted to not cast minorities, look at Mordo and Wong. Admittedly I have only seen Strange once but that's a pretty good take and I hadn't considered it before. Edit: I would never besmirch Rawhide Kobayashi. He's a treasure. Inzombiac has a new favorite as of 18:31 on Aug 31, 2017 |

It's only 6 episodes long which sucks, but from what I understand they are already filming a second season. My favorite part: The Roman guy asking for his cape back and the Viking digs a little bit of poo poo out of his rear end with a finger and proceeds to brush the Roman's teeth with it. The actor who played the Roman did such a good job I almost threw up twice watching that.

I'd worry more about Danny Rand being a white guy if the people from the hand weren't all of different nationalities as well. that was actually way more bizarre to me because I'd always assumed the hand would be some sort of Chinese shadow organization.

Cool documentary on Prime called Hidden Killers of the Victorian Home. Very interesting, about arsenic in the wallpaper, lead in the pipes, combustible clothing and jewelry, and more. Makes you wonder how any child survived Victorian London.

I'm trying to watch Star Trek: Beyond on prime and this might be the first movie to ever make me motion sick. It's like they filmed it on a vibrator.

I just watched The Ticket on Amazon Prime. It sounded interesting -- a 2016 movie about a blind man who gets his sight back and becomes a real dick, starring Dan Stevens, Malin Akerman, Oliver Platt, and Kerry Bishe. Not a bad cast. But the whole thing had an atmosphere of unease and dread, while at the same time feeling like one of those sanctimonious Christian-themed movies you find in a Redbox, starring actors you vaguely remember, but their careers are washed up. I don't think any of these four actors are hurting -- I'd call Stevens and Bishe rising stars for sure. But there's nothing to it. It's depressing, preachy, and slow. Save yourselves and watch something else. Something like Marc Maron's latest stand-up special on Netflix, which is the best thing he's ever done. Even if you don't think you like Maron, or you get tired of his aging, bitter burnout persona, this is one of the best stand-up specials I've ever seen, from anyone.

Second season of One Mississippi is out and I liked it a lot, especially Bill's storyline. Some of it did feel off in some way but I can't pinpoint why. Maybe with only 6 episodes, it was condensed a bit.

S1 was good, but I have never seen a show poo poo it's pants quite that hard since. Jesus, S2 was terrible. The last season of Longmire goes up on the 23rd. Anyone else looking forwards to that one? That show was excellent for the first three seasons, but the move to Netflix went and leaned into its strengths really well. Not mandating a case of the week gave it a lot of room to breathe.

The show is a predictable formula of a premier with content, 14 episodes of people talking, and a finale where someone dies. It doesn't really matter who anymore.
