Is this one of those cases where the jury was mega racist, where they were super authoritarian and there HAD to be a good reason the cop did what he did, the prosecutor intentionally made a lovely case (maybe not this one since that sort of thing happens more often in grand juries where they don't have to make stuff public after), or half of the evidence was inadmissible so they missed the real story?

During the chase, Stockley reported “shots fired” to dispatchers over a police radio. He says something about shooting Smith, which court records reveal as “Going to kill this (expletive), don’t you know it.”

From - http://www.stltoday.com/news/local/...567f53ed46.html

... how!?! How can a cop say they are going to kill someone, then kill them and get off. I really don't care what the circumstances are. That's insane.

Explosion in London Underground train this morning, reports so far is a crude bucket bomb that didn't go off as apparently planned (was on a timer).

Manhunt underway, saw another report that a suspect has been identified by cctv.

E: Unrelated question -- how the gently caress is the UN letting North Korea get away with firing TWO missiles over Japan? Isn't that violating Japan's airspace?

Starts at 6:30, after the shooting, with him grabbing the gun from a duffle bag, a bystander's video shows him entering Anthony Smith's car immediately after they pull Smith out, at 8:45.

The Chicago Tribune posted:

Assistant Circuit Attorney Robert Steele emphasized during the trial that police dashcam video of the chase captured Stockley saying he was "going to kill this (expletive), don't you know it." Less than a minute later, the officer fatally shot Smith. Stockley's lawyer dismissed the comment as "human emotions" amid a dangerous police pursuit.

At the end of the chase, Stockley opened fire only when Smith, still in his car, refused commands to put up his hands and reached along the seat "in the area where the gun was," Stockley's attourney said. Stockley said he climbed into Smith's car and found a revolver stuffed between the center console and passenger seat.

But prosecutors questioned why Stockley dug into a bag in the back seat of the police SUV before returning to Smith's car.

The gun found in Smith's car did not have Smith's DNA on it, but it did have Stockley's.

"The gun was a plant," the prosecution said.

Honestly, it is pretty much in line with current 4th amendment law.

Other public statements can be used as probable cause. It's just that Facebook makes it way easier to make incriminating public statements.

My state's politics currently has our Tea Party Fucknugget Governor, former Turtle challenger Matt Bevin, saying that the office of the State's Attorney General should be appointed by the Governor and not elected. Of course this has nothing to do with the fact that our current Attorney General, Andy Beshear, has filed multiple lawsuits against the Governor about actions that Bevin has taken (such as dissolving and recreating various state boards because he couldn't replace all of the current members with toadies). Andy Beshear is also the son of our former governor, Steve Beshear, who is responsible for the Kynect success story even having a chance to happen.

Seriously though, going back to my North Korea question, is the act of firing (multiple) missiles over a country not a violation of their airspace? How does that not force the UN to immediately act (beyond the repeated emergency meerings)?

Russia and China can veto any action at the UN.

As long as you have one of the 5 permanent members of the Security Council on your side the UN can't touch you.
