Definitely. Getting Wade Phillips to be their DC was a huge get and their strong week 1 performance was even without their best player in Aaron Donald.

Hey guys! I'm having a good time, what about you?

I stuck it out with the Texans DST because Bengals seemed like they would be trash and for some reason all of the experts still like Houston. I was uncomfortable with it but it worked out and got me 10 pts last night.

Now the question is whether this could hold up. With Texans @ NE next week I may see if I can jump to Jax, Bal, or LAR depending on how this weekend's games go. Anyone plan on holding on to Houston or did their offense scare everyone away already?

Yeah, I really like them under Phillips and they did well for me week 1. The main reason I'd consider switching is looking ahead to JAX's fantasy playoffs schedule (which includes HOU and SF in weeks 15 and 16).

I don't care how well two D/ST's matchups intertwine, I will never own a backup defense. Just like I will never draft a defense. Streaming is the only way to live my friends. Embrace it.

I don't usually believe in rostering two QBs but someone just cut Luck in my league and I'm in the middle of the waiver wire sooo

Also I got a trade offer in full PPR where I give Doug Martin and I receive Jeremy Maclin. I'm leaning towards x'ing that or countering with Buck Allen or something.

Jump on any of those. Look at that stellar D's results against the Pats over the last 4 years*

*including when they even gave up 27 points to a Jacoby Brissette lead Pats offense.

Unless you really need the depth I'd do it.

Honestly I don't really see how this is a question--Howard was a second round fantasy pick and scored 15 points last week. The looming threat of a committee is scary, but in my opinion unlikely. Plus, West is already on a committee, and I'm kinda out on the Washington offense. Crowder is a great player but it's gonna be hard to ever start him with confidence in fantasy.

(From the Start/Sit thread):

I decided to roll with JAX as my defense for Week 2+. I've read at least twice here that JAX is not a startable option against TEN and I'm seeing more reasons against this assessment than for.

TEN does not have the history of being some offensive juggernaut like NO, ATL, GB or NE. TEN is the 12th ranked offense after Week 1 and Mariota's stat line against OAK was 256 yards, 61% completion rate, 0 passing TDs, 1 rushing TD (half of his 2016 total). His historical completion rate is low 60's. An OAK defense that is not know for stoutness limited both Demarco Murray and Derrick Henry and the exotic smashmouth to just 69 yards rushing (10.5 fantasy points in 1 ppr) and 256 passing yards. There are no game-breaking "just get the ball in their hands" wideouts on that team, which include Corey Davis (remains to be seen), Eric Decker and Rishard Matthews (whom I respect as a 50/50 jump-ball grabber but doesn't possess other elite attributes like speed).

So that's the opposing team this week. Here's the remaining JAX schedule and tell me it doesn't read like the starting credits of a blockbuster porno:

JAX vs BAL
JAX @ NYJ
JAX vs PIT
JAX vs LAR
JAX @ IND
JAX vs CIN
JAX vs SD
JAX @ CLE
JAX @ ARI
JAX vs IND
JAX vs SEA
JAX vs HOU
JAX @ SF
JAX @ TEN

Wow. Look at all the bold teams that you want to be playing against.

Out of the remaining 5 teams, only 1 (PIT) puts the fear of God into me in terms of teams that can really rack up the points against JAX, particular with Ben at home.

Doug Marrone was a defensive-minded coach and one thing he did good was draft a young roster with talent and create a situation where key players like Calais Campbell could be acquired in free agency to plug up decencies.

I am putting my flag down :patriot: on the Jacksonville Jaguars being a D/ST to own that will remove streaming from your weekly waiver considerations.

As of last waiver period, ownership in JAX jumped 15% in ESPN leagues to 96%, but do keep an eye out for them being dropped ahead of Week 3 vs BAL or Week 5 @ PIT.

You are really tempting me. I really want to pick them up but I'd be dropping Carolina who gets the Bills this week. They will likely have a better week than Jacksonville, but if the Jags ball out again this week, there's no way I'll get them on waivers next week...

you're offering an injured wr2/3 with a QB that had a horrible debut on an offense that just lost its best weapon to IR

for

a likely feature back who's already past his bye week, and just needs to miss 3 weeks (before other players' byes come in, and who therefore covers every other possible bye week ROS)?

good luck with that

So you're saying there's a chance?

There's no guarantee that Martin gets his job back, and Brown does have upside assuming he gets healthy.

I'm holding seven QBs on my dynasty team. I drafted three rookies and picked up Cutler and Smith off waivers, and I already had Dalton and Manning.

Dynasty is different, though. I'm trying to guarantee myself an every-week-startable upper tier QB for the next few years, and I'm taking a shotgun approach.

How many bench spots and how many teams?

12 teams, 12 starters, 12 bench, two IR, three taxi. We're doing IDP, five of those starters are IDP guys, no kickers or defenses.
QB/RB/RB/WR/WR/TE/FLEX/DB/LB/DL/DEFLEX/DEFLEX.
Taxi squad is for rookies only, their salaries cost nothing against your cap, but other owners can try to steal them and you have to start the guy to block the steal. Bench players can't be stolen.

Here's the team today:

Another owner tried to steal Deshaun so I had to start him, which required cap space, so I traded away an RB to get a 2018 draft pick plus Taco, who was taxi squad eligible so I didn't have to drop anyone. Fully expect to have to do the same with Trubisky within the next few weeks, too, maybe.

I'll probably drop Smith soon, but I want to see his performance the next week or two or three, see if last week was a fluke or not. Also want to evaluate Cutler.

Basically dynasty is fun, huh? Last year I was legit trying for a championship, I went 4-0 to start the season and then 0-4 the next four games and wound up just missing the playoffs.
I'm not quite sure if this year is a rebuilding year or not. I've got Evans for a decent price, Crabtree for really cheap, and Bell is nearing the point where I can't afford him, so if those three guys all do well, that's the anchor for a playoff contending team this year. On the other hand, I've got a lot of questionable pieces at RB/WR, and of course my QB situation is dire. I decided to address the QB situation, see if I could grab some promising rookies, take some lottery tickets off of waivers, and maybe if I can land on a winner for this season, I can still run at the playoffs and a money finish. If not, well, maybe next year!

The annoying thing is that I got sniped on Mahomes, and didn't have enough free slots to draft Beathard. Definitely wanted those guys too.
