Haha! Holy poo poo I'm jhnnywalkr, whose comment he reads first in that video! I had no idea.

I note they didn't show or explain the strip in question (my comment was actually to a Letter to the Editor), which was one where he made a bad pun using Anne Frank.

Does anyone have the Mallard Fillmore strip where he says nonbinary people should be referred to as "it," or the metapost someone made comparing it to another MF comic from 2001 where he's equally baffled by pronouns.

So here's something this made me ponder: just how ignorant is the Republican party/your everyday R voter? Hear me out because it's not just a simple burn disguised as a question.

They seem really good, and I mean REALLY good at taking an actual message or idea and missing just a small enough detail to make it seem crazy and outlandish. This cartoon being a prime example. See, I haven't heard a single person (aside from Republicans) claim that "hurricanes existing is proof of climate change." I believe the leading argument is actually that numerous large or record breaking hurricanes might be a result of climate change. So Republicans take that narrative and just slightly tweak it so that you're some crazy liberal loon for believing in climate change.

They did the same poo poo with BLM. The (intentional?) failure to grasp the implied "too". No one was going around saying ONLY black lives matter, except guess who. Same could be said for socialism too. Wanting to implement some facets of socialism to benefit society turns into "the left just wants everyone to be paid the same for doing no work at all."

Gun rights, you betcha. The reality is that most people leftists just want more strict regulations. The right's interpretation that they push 24/7: "Democrats want to confiscate all guns."

I guess it's probably a combination of the two and there's probably even a term for this strategy, but are they actually incapable of comprehending their opponent's message or are they just being assholes?

I think it's mostly just strawman propaganda repeated to the point that most people genuinely assume that democrats want the extreme opposite of whatever they want.

I hope the Dems hired ex Republican staffers who can think like them and anticipate this time's version of the death panels or whatever before they happen.

Nah that's way too pedestrian. They've gotta anticipate something as loving nuts as the death panels but new and original.

Does it have to be nuts? Because I don't see any voters on the right liking higher taxes and hundreds of thousands of jobs lost in medical billing (exactly the kinds of jobs that their lower middle class voters have.)

What I mean is, I think that's the kind of rational objection that Dems can hopefully think of responses to by themselves. It's the complete brain-injured lunacy stuff that they get caught flat-footed on.

They'll probably bring death panels back. Any humane single-payer plan is going to have to repeal the Hyde Amendment, so "forced abortions" will also be a thing. McCoy will probably draw Cecile Richards eating some babies. Maybe Bernie's involvement will get them to bring back blood libel.

I've been negligent in posting Rall's Sputnik News cartoons.

Kirschen's style is simple and lazy. Liccar is like a bad acid trip. Horrifying but that horror helps sell his message. Rall's art style contributes nothing to his message and he's so drat smug that everybody hates it even if they agree with it. If the faces of Hannity, Shkreli, and Cruz all got together and found a way to have a kid that kid would look like a Rall comic.

Trump would never say "lunar perigee". He might say "moon getting hugely close, you've never seen a moon as close as this one, believe me" but not "lunar perigee".

Trump would never propose solar-powered anything. Solar-powered stuff is an invention of the Chinese hoaxters. Coal-powered pumps would bring on coal jobs and make coal mining great again, however.

Both these things have happened like once and are seen as watershed moments in SK because they historically haven't happened.

This is like looking at Obama getting elected and going "America is willing up look past race to let everyone be part of their democracy. Why can't WE do that, here in Canada."
