Anyone who tries to defend him for being pragmatic or doing what he can within the system is written off as centrist neoliberal scum. My wife listens to his books on tape. There is just so much intelligence and practical common sense in there. I remember watching him at the G20 and thinking man that's a level-headed take-control kinda dude, give me eight more years. Thinking that he is part of some global conspiracy, laughing at us peasants behind our backs, carries too much cognitive dissonance for me. I really hope I'm a better judge of character than that.

Anyway I guess my point, or my question, is where do we draw the line? What is the ultimate goal here? Are we to just call everybody a piece of poo poo, blow it all up, wait praying for some violent socialist uprising? I don't think any of us really want that if we're honest. We actually have a pretty good thing going here. We've evolved to this point for a reason, the system needs some tweaks to keep corporate power in check and reign in the military complex, keep the planet habitable and figure out this balance between legit populism and globalism. There will always be powerful people, rich people, poor people. There will always be a lesser of evils to choose from. For my money, Democrats for all their flaws, are still by far the lesser evil and our shot at progress. Why can't we admit this and start endorsing people in these terms?

Sure she's a piece of poo poo for these reasons, but her opponent is a bigger piece of poo poo for those reasons, so we HAVE to vote for her. That piece of poo poo didn't do what she said she would do so we endorse this lesser piece of poo poo replacement next primary...and so on. If we all couched our politics in these practical terms I would be so happy.
