The Xbone will with OG Xbox compatibility. Can lan party with Xbox, 360 and XB1 supposedly for stuff like the original Halo.

I think those travel things are for stuff like military and people who travel to gaming conventions and the like. Maybe if you live in one of those tiny houses and have to pack it up at night and slide it under your composting toilet in order to cook dinner.

If I mod my NES Classic to have all NES games, does that "take over" Nintendo's emulator or something?

What I mean is that Nintendo is using some nifty "on the fly" emulator, where they can patch things into the ROMs like the flashing animation in Zelda being something the NES isn't even capable of. If I hack mine, would I lose the ability to see stuff like that?

Supercar Gautier
Jun 10, 2006

If you mod games onto the NES Classic, they will use the same emulator as the built-in games, unless you specifically add Retroarch or something and set that as the default instead.

Figures. But it uses any average 5V usb power supply. Heck, the monitor I use it on has USB3 ports (but not connected to my PC) and my NES CE powers off of that no problem

Unless I'm understanding wrong, the NES and SNES mini are powered by USB, but there is no wall adapter included. I guess Nintendo figured everyone had spare USB AC adapters or was using the console near something that had USB ports.

Can someone verify this? I guess it helps them with supply chain because they don't need to pack in an adaptor for different regions, but shipping something that doesn't work right out of the box seems nuts.

Everywhere but the USA required the purchase of an ac adapter. This was due to some sort of regulation IRC.

e: It's a micro-usb. Pretty sure the adapter is a standard 5v.

This is the NES classic one, which should be the same for the SNES classic.

really hoping it's so similar that you can just load up nes games too without needing retroarch and plug in a nes controller and it works perfect. i'm willing to put money down on this being the case.

gonna filled my snes classic up with all my nes and snes carts i got locked away and maybe some hacks, change the US boxarts to UK ones and its gonna be perfect.

Just to make things clear: any micro-USB power source (e.g. phone charger) will do for powering the thing? I can understand why they don't want to pack one in, I've got like four spares already.

Yes, it's regular USB power and anything which supplies it will work, including USB ports on a console (I've done this). If anything that should increase your options of where and how it can be hooked up.

Yes the standard phone charger, like the one packed in with an iPhone is 5v, and should work fine.

Yep, just have multiple usb/hdmi cables ready to go and you can move it around to different TVs/monitors depending on where you want to play without having to keep running cables.

As I said above, I just have it connected to the built-in USB3 hub in my monitor (which isn't even connected to a PC in order to supply data/power). It doesn't require a lot of current to run, the bottom of the NES classic just says 5V input, doesn't even give a min Amp for input.

Lufia 2 is great, though I am a weirdo. Even though I know it's not as good of a game, I like Lufia 1 better. Probably just have more nostalgia for it, but yeah. I wish Estopolis would come back. This is a hella good jam.

I've powered the NES off a USB 2.0 port which are spec'd at 500mA. I wouldn't recommend it for long periods of time as it may be a bit low, but it'll work.

The output of the packed-in NES Classic power is 1A, for what it's worth.

Consider backing him on patreon if you like his stuff, he's making a pittance off his videos and considering his variety of talents(he plays multiple instruments himself, including the namesake ocarina) it's a shame he gets so little. He does 1-2 backer requests a month and only has 20 backers, so you have a good chance of getting a request in. So far he's done Smiles and Tears from Earthbound, Nature's Crescendo from Stardew Valley, and the above Last Duel covers for me. The Smiles and Tears one really gets me.

This is the same company that shipped the New 3DS XL without a charger.

To be fair, I just used my 3DS charger and haven't thought much about it.
