I made about 12 million gil lucking into the 2 new gathering retainer minions in the first few days. Nice little way to start an expansion.

The LoTA tank set is pretty boss, and it'll be relatively easier to get in 4.1 since the parties will only have one tank slot. Fuma is pretty good too, but it's needable across three melee classes now, so uh, good luck. poo poo, I just remembered Crimson/Royal and the Dragoon set, gently caress all those pieces are great.

I'm hoping for a dyeable version of the Filibuster gear, if only because I ran those dungeons a million times and never saw the tank chest drop and also because I want to be able to make my caster coat a colour that actually goes with stuff. All the dudes at Rhalgr's Reach are all wearing those outfits and I really wanted to do Ala Mhigo for story the first time in that gear set, but I could never complete it. The set, that is. I've beaten Stormblood. I came across a 30-minute monster fate in The Lochs that I didn't know about today. Tall Tale is the name of the fate, Tall Mountain is the monster. I thought Ixion was the special fate in that zone but I guess there's another one. According to Google it drops a triple triad card. Unfortunately, since it's a bit later on in the expansion no one is doing these fates anymore. I wonder if there would be interest among some of the new players, or people who are just getting through Stormblood now to try and get a group together one weekend and knock out all the big Stormblood fates that give things like orchestrion rolls and stuff. I've also read about a really long chain in the Steppe that awards some furniture. Is this something anyone would be interested in? I've done all of them except the ones I just learned about and the one that gives a DRK glamour weapon, but I'd be willing to help out other people who have never done them. Dick Trauma posted:Ohh... I thought retainers were some sort of lackey you could send on mini-adventures, although I guess they could be that as well as bank/auction space. They are! Retainers do a bunch of stuff. Primarily you use them to sell stuff on the MB and use them at a bank, but you can also select a class for them, gear them up, and send them out on those mini-adventures. They level up too and as they get higher level and better gear they have a chance of bringing better and better stuff. Just last week they brought me home 1.5 mil gil worth of dyes. protip: just spam quick adventures for them. Don't worry about the venture costs you'll be swimming in them soon enough.

Finally got to Lakshmi (normal) last night in the MSQ. That was a fun fight mechanics wise. Retainers: there's so much stuff in this game. I still haven't done a ton of it like gambling at the casino, home/appt, FC airships, those weird HW ventures that have you recovering junk, treasure maps, and retainer ventures, etc... Should I bother dumping a lot of gil on Ironworks gear if I'm leveling my gatherers? Just hit 60 with fisher, using trailblazer gear from the moogles, and I'm not having the best time catching stuff in the fringes.

I got it as well, it's basically a word salad about combining two of their disparate and impenetrable website environments into one, which I'm assuming will probably be even more obtuse somehow. e: I haven't done a thorough examination of the links but the origin address matches previous Square Enix Store mailers. I too, have gotten one of these emails, but I can't tell if it actually *means* anything, or if this is a mailer I'm getting because I played the Tomb Raider reboot at some point or another. (Because I can't remember having ever signed up for any of these things.)

It is perhaps distinctly telling of Square's web presence that something ostensibly official is being distributed without fanfare and happens to be utterly indistinguishable from a phishing scam even upon close examination. I think it's being sent to anyone who has purchased something through the Square Enix Online Store before. It hit my Promotions box in Gmail since it matches their marketing push address. I would say probably just ignore it, both out of safety and it also not mattering to anyone in our version of reality.

In theory I think I have some store points because I bought the lore book. In practice the number of things I would even want from their store is zero so if those points get lost in the void then

I suppose it would only matter for buying the next expansion, maybe? All I've ever purchased from the SE store has been FFXIV. My other purchases are all on Mogstation, which I think is separate from that. But thanks everyone. I'll leave it for now. This does appear to be a thing they're doing but geez that email felt so sketchy. https://store.na.square-enix.com/docs/faq HackensackBackpack fucked around with this message at 17:46 on Sep 18, 2017 |

I mean, if there is a client that needs a severe rewrite, it is the FFXIV one. Just.... relentlessly steal the gently caress out of the Blizzard launcher, because the current install download is one of the most incredibly onerous ones in existence. I heard that we almost could have had TotalBiscuit playing the game because he got the metaphorical MMO boner again some time in the past month or two, but he saw how long it was going to take to download and install the game, and then metaphorically went soft. Yeah FFXIV really could've benefited from the guy who angrily quit WoW because they nerfed a no-longer-relevant tier of raiding in Cataclysm(the expansion that lost a ton of people because the raids were all overtuned), despite the fact that he was not actually raiding in any capacity at the time. To be fair I haven't watched much of his stuff in like six years so there's a good chance he's changed, but back in the day his stuff was all "screw casuals" nonsense. Dude really hated WotLK for that reason (and also Cata, noted very-friendly-to-casuals expansion). I think he'd have an aneurysm playing something as hand-holdy as FFXIV, an MMO built for people who have not played an MMO before.
