All in all this was a pretty decent TGS conference! Some neat Japanese studio announcements, MH World going hard worldwide, ZOE VR game, new trailers for some good games, yeah that's what I want out of them.

It was bad compared to the 2015 conference when they showed Nioh, Nier Automata, Yakuza Kiwami, Yakuza 6 and 13 Sentinels. I would have wanted to see Resident Evil 2, Armored Core, and Final Fantasy VII but I guess they're being saved for PSX where they would have much bigger impact. Ditto for the rumored new Devil May Cry and Bloodbourne sequels.

Ugh I'm so disappointed this presentation of things that are largely all out in the next six months didn't have anything about games only known via baseless rumours, how unsatisfying.

I had to turn off colossus because the frame rate bugged me so much. Happy to give it a proper go on a playable version.

I think the original SotC was one of the first games to have an option for a 1080i mode, which was pretty impressive for the time.

GT4, Tourist Trophy (Polyphony should make another bike game), the Japanese version of Valkyrie Profile Silmeria and like..three other trash games could do it though.

I forget), stretched by the GS to 1920x540 and then line-doubled for the final output. Still, that kind of processing was probably a big strain on the poor ol' GS, especially in the case of VP2 and GT4. PAL users were stuck at 576i for those games, though.

The journey of Shadow of the Colossus is a timeless, perfect fable. I cannot imagine any "Top 10 GOATs" list without this game as being credible. ICO holds absolutely no appeal to me I played a demo once and just said "Too cutesy, escort quests are stupid and silent useless girl is a terrible gameplay mechanic, HARD PASS" but SotC makes you care more about your horse in a minute than most games can achieve with hours of cutscenes and dialogue. I can understand the complaints some people have about SotC but to me they are non-issues and the idea that I'll be able to share it with other gamers in 4K or whatever is insane. LoL new Zone of the Enders & Gungrave! Sony, shine on you crazy diamond!

I recently made a top ten games list, but Shadow of the Colossus wasn't on there because I've never played it before. I think I will give it a try when it is reborn.
