I seem to run across their ads less often now, since I usually search for "by owner," but yeah, obviously if I'm searching for a Tuono I will probably be cross-shopping a suspicious Electra-Glide trike.

I guess if it's a dealer, I'm not sure what the scam would be. I'd just be super skeptical every step of the way until I saw a title with my name and knew the bike was in good shape.

Also every time I've been in there the bikes are packed so tightly that you can't sit on one without risking knocking over the whole line. Yeah, no.

It's a really best suited for an inner-city commuter - courier bike really. Under 6K doesn't seem like too bad of a deal and I'm positive the bike won't have any reliability issues. I test drove it on Sunday, and yeah, the whole thing was underwhelming. It's too bad, they look cool. I think the guy would have taken $5k.

All hands on deck, somebody buy this now. https://atlanta.craigslist.org/atl/mcy/d/2003-sv650-naked-price-drop/6292924804.html I just got back from test riding it and it's perfect. There is no reason this bike shouldn't be priced at $2800. There is no reason a 2003 suzuki should still look this good. A couple small scratches, a scuff on the left side from saddlebags, and a tiny dimple in the gas tank the size of a nickel. The PR4 have decent life left, the brakes were just done and are firm and responsive, the chain and sprockets are new, it has it's original toolkit, everything. This bike is incredible. Seriously incredible. Walking away from it was so hard. I stood in a parking lot hemming and hawing for 15 minutes. It's an absolute steal at $1900, and I wanted to buy it on that merit alone. The only thing that stopped me was the SV650 as a bike no longer speaks to me, and I just felt kind of afraid of it's unforgivable nature after riding sumos so long. It really just made me want to be riding my 690 instead. Not a problem with his bike, but rather that I don't like naked bikes anymore. HenryJLittlefinger posted:https://fortcollins.craigslist.org/mcy/d/1991-honda-vfr400r-nc30/6312812680.html As a bike it's completely adequate. It's smooth-ish, a little heavy feeling even though it's only 400lbs, and fine for putting around town. Very Honda. The problem comes when people lump them into the Cafe Racer category and describe them as "fast" and "exciting." Also they're terribly overpriced. Just go get yourself an EX600 and have more fun for like a quarter of the price.

The GB500 actually is fairly fun to ride. But as was said, overpriced. I also get a bad feeling from that one with the pipe wrap and the electrical tape on the headlight. It's already a cafe racer, dickhead, it doesn't need any more mods.

I appreciate the compliment, but the DR is gonna stay just as battle worn as it is now. Vinyl wrapping tanks (and helmets) seems like an exercise in frustration. I'd have fixed his tank by putting some primer under that wrinkled bit and stretching it out over. I'd also remove the S logo first instead of laying over it but that's just me.

Oh man I really really really wish I had the cash for one of these right now. A police dept in Tennessee is auctioning off four M1030M1 USMC motorcycles. This is the last version of the multifuel diesel KLR650 built by Hayes, from what I've been able to find online somewhere between 200 and 500 of these were built, and I've never seen one for sale. Right now the highest bid is $7,250 (plus ten percent auction fee) and the lowest is about $5,200. I'm kind of surprised they aren't going for more given how rare they are but I guess there is still 2 days or so left in the auction. Please some goon buy one so I can live vicariously through you. I've wanted one of these for like 10 years. I am sure it's an absolute dog performance wise, but they get almost 100 MPG and are just cool. Here's a link to the auctions. https://www.govdeals.com/index.cfm?fa=Main.AdvSearchResultsNew&kWord=M1030M1&whichForm=vehicle&searchPg=Main Sample pic from random auction in case they go down after it ends: edit to fix link Tyro fucked around with this message at 18:56 on Sep 23, 2017 |

Jazzzzz posted:Whether it runs on diesel or the tears of Al Qaeda at the end of the day it's a heavier KLR with a motor you can't get parts for. Sounds like an exercise in masochism to me Speaking as a decorated USMC diesel mechanic, I would also like to offer the opinion that this is an absolutely terrible idea. If it has ever been touched by a marine, consider it destroyed. I remember specifically one time my battalion got a brand new from the factory top of the line HMMWV, and it had 2 flat tires, a broken alternator and a blown head gasket after a training exercise and <100 miles. HMMWV's have a snorkel system with a simple on-off switch for sealing the case in the event of crossing a river more than 3 feet deep, and you better believe Uncle Sam's Misguided Children can't figure that poo poo out. Specifically trained truck drivers can barely handle a 3 position transfer case. IIRC from the briefing when they were super hype about this bike, there's a bunch of switches or buttons you have to press to tell the engine computer if it's running on diesel, kerosene, ethanol or banana peels, and I highly doubt anyone read that manual. It was definitely a cool idea, but at the end of the day we are blunt instruments. And i love the Corps. VV: Exactly. The philosophy behind the bike was for small recon/sniper teams to 'live off the land' and be able to operate deeper with minimal support, siphoning gas out of cars or space heaters or whatever. But what usually happened was mixing red jp-8, kero and regular gas, and blowing up the engines. I heard one of the rumors was 'it'll run on anything' and some idiot poured vodka in the tank. red19fire fucked around with this message at 21:12 on Sep 23, 2017 |
