On the one hand, I can sort of believe that a ~40 year old white woman from South Dakota could mistake a slogan like "All Lives Splatter" being a general warning against walking in the street, in a "LOL=Lots Of Love" kind of way. Especially if it's something she perceives as a problem around her.

On the other, more realistic hand, that meme says "Nobody cares about your protest, keep your rear end off the road." That's not exactly subtle language, and is pretty hard to miss.

e: I'd say she meant to DM it to some private group or something, but she loving hashtagged the thing.

They don't make only pachinko machines. Here in the States, they have a huge booth at the Indian Gaming Convention every year. They could run a profitable casino if they really wanted to.

Everyone seems to forget that Konami not only has an extremely profitable arcade music game business but also owns Yu-Gi-OH!, a card game that is not only still super popular but also has a mobile version with micro-transactions. Metal Gear was great for them, but Castlevania was never ever all that profitable. Lords of Shadow, the God of War clone, was their best-selling CV game ever, beating out Symphony of the Night by a significant amount.

Konami's entire pachinko business could vanish, and they'd still be around. They made the same mistake that companies like SNK made (who came back to gaming with King of Fighters 14). It was their treatment of both employees and former employees that was helping do them in.

SNK's a bit of a different case. The original SNK went out of business because of their own bad business decisions unrelated to pachinko, but the original founder started a second company called Playmore with a bunch of pachinko people on the board for funding reasons and rebought the old company as SNK Playmore. After years of slowly rooting out all the pachinko people, he's rebranded the company back to SNK and is focusing on video games again.

It's both. I read a bit of the thread and it looks like his health insurance wasn't accepted at the hospital he was sent to so now he is in a lot of medical debt and "re-thinking this whole free healthcare thing."

LOL. He caused a 3-car pile-up and admitted this on Twitter. He also admitted to doing this while being on his job. His insurance policy is either liability-only, or it prohibits commercial activity, or both.
Sassy-rear end is now accepting full responsibility for his actions by....asking others to pay for his fuckups, lol.

Also he has been in rehab multiple times so that could also factor into why an insurance company might fight claims of his. It's beautiful all around. And don't fool yourself - he isn't rethinking anything. He's a loving moron.

Where does he say he caused it? I'm honestly looking for info on how any of this happened, as you think a 3-car pileup at highway speeds would make some sort of news, but I can't find anything near where he says he's from.

"hosed" is the correct answer. He's most likely not 10-99, but when you get hired, they will tell you "you have to have your own insurance." What they don't tell you is your own insurance won't pay your claim since it's considered commercial activity unless you have that specific rider (which is of course ridiculously expensive). Worker's comp should pick up his actual injury cost since it occurred on the job doing job things assuming his employer pays into it and it looks like they're doing that according to his tweets, but it'll do fuckall for his car, the cars of other people, and the costs of their injuries.
