I don't think his reviews are bad perse but they set off this wave of snarky hater reviews that leads to legions of youtubers rushing to be the first to hate a thing the most, even when it doesn't deserve it.

I still like most of the Plinkett reviews (the older ones especially, like the Star Trek ones) but in general RLM has been on a bit of a weird downward spiral. I can't believe they're still wasting god knows how many hours doing "The Nerd Crew", which wasn't even funny the first time.

I like their review show except when Rich Evans comes on. He has the worst laugh and hates everything. I can understand disliking the Zack Snyder hero movies but the reason he hates them so much is that they aren't truthful to the comics.

Rich and Mike both often go too far in the whole "I'm cool because I hate this" direction. I doubt it's a coincidence that I stopped immediately watching new RLM videos right around the same time I started listening to We Hate Movies, who are a lot funnier and also come across as more genuine.

It's created by Pamela Adlon and Louis CK and for the first 3 or so episodes was originally basically female Louie but pretty quickly evolved into an amazing look at motherhood and being a daughter and the stress of running a house and being a single mom and all sorts. Can't recommend it enough.

At this point the videos for actually bad movies are shorter than the videos for the good ones and there's no actual criticism at all, just an old man yelling at studio logos.

I think actual film makers loathe Cinema Sins as well, or at least they get into Twitter piss fights over their videos. A lot of directors will happily talk to the Honest Trailers guys though. To my knowledge they've had the directors of Winter Soldier, Deadpool, Kong Skull Island, Lion King, and John Wick show up to poke fun of their own movies.

One is poking fun and trying to be funny, even it mostly fails at that. The other is just basically just some rear end in a top hat literally counting problems.

Rich Evans can be loving hilarious (like when he's crank calling people), but most of the time he just isn't. I used to be a masochist that would watch every Previously Recorded video with him and Jack playing video games together and most of the time he's just insufferable to listen to. He has a loving gaming channel on YouTube and yet he still manages to sound like a crotchety out of the loop old man a lot of times. And I used to love Mike years ago, but now I just think he's an unfunny dick more often than not.
