Under questioning from Mr Lloyd, Senator Roberts said his 16-year-old sister had filled out his citizenship form and he signed it. The form contained a line which said Senator Roberts held UK and Colonies citizenship, however he said he signed the document without reading it. Senator Roberts conceded he would have realised he was a British citizen if he had read the form.

I like how it's the politicians that bang on about poor people not taking responsibility for their situation are the exact ones that themselves take no responsibility for their own failures.

Premier Daniel Andrews says the issue of what to do with offenders post-sentence will be the subject of a second report expected soon. He says safeguards will be put in place to ensure the new powers are not abused. However, "if it comes to a question of curtailing the rights of a small number of people to protect, tens, perhaps hundreds of thousands of other Victorians, then I won't hesitate to make that call." "That's the modern world we live in," he said. The crown jewel of the progressive wing of the ALP

Loten posted:Does this mean no more Danger 5? Yeah sorry mate. SBS aren't really doing any more off charter commissions (particularly in comedy) and the last time I talked to Dario and Dinosaur productions they said they were keen to work on other things. That was about 2 years ago so I guess they're making it sort of official. (Was formerly in charge of comedy at SBS)

Synthbuttrange posted:https://twitter.com/theage/status/910695482682433536 Somebody has said they only intended to keep it up for one day, but that kinda doesn't matter. One side of this debate is staging peaceful public displays, talking to people, and encouraging everybody to have their say (even if they didn't want to have the debate in the first place). The other is lying, slandering, and making threats. Marriage equality sure is fun to have public campaigns anout, because it becomes so massively black-and-white as an issue.

NSW has ordered all NSW institutions to replace their logo with the NSW government logo (the Waratah that's actually a lotus) and previous exemptions no longer apply. So this includes, like, Taronga Park and Sydney Opera House and the Australia Museum and NSW Gallery and all of those. Just a big long line of generic red flowers over the door and on ads.
