Viper King doesn't show up for waaay longer than that on Legendary.

I wasn't running into him until after I hit my first Archon.

If you turn integration off you'll never see the Viper King if you trigger but never actually do the mission.

It's a con. I'm currently victory lapping until I get my A team every possible skill and then go skullfuck all the Chosen, and now I'm disappointed my Spark can't be a part of it.

I know people say SPARKs are too expensive but I just feel like they haven't used one as a point man with that "33% chance to take a reaction shot against uncovered enemies" perk. I've marched a SPARK into a pod and watched as it systematically destroyed every enemy inside of that pod and holy poo poo it's just so good. Also they never get tired and Overdrive is also loving strong. Shooting the warlock in the face three times on your turn is also very good. (Or twice and a rocket, to offset the stacking aim penalty.)

I was about to demur on the DLC but I think this post convinced me to be a completionist and just get it.

Is there a list of good quality-of-life-only mods (no gameplay changes)?

Just lol if you've never put a blaster bomb on a rainmaker SPARK, they're worth it for that alone.

In other news, reaper banish + superior extended mag + superior repeater is completely bonkers broken.

I'm probably way late to the party here but does anyone know why XCom 2 runs like dog poo poo on the xbone? And is there any way to get it to run more smoothly?

What I gathered from the reddit posts about it is that either whoever they hired to handle the console ports is very bad at their jobs, 2K is very bad at giving them proper time to port over the game, or XCOM 2 has mutilated Unreal Engine 3 enough that any hope of porting it over to consoles and having it run well is a fool's dream.

(My money's on the second thing with a dash of the third.)

It's probably the ton of new maps. They usually take up a lot of space in UE games.

I don't know if you include bug fixes in QoL, but here's a list:

Right now I just have the base game, I'm likely to get WOTC shortly, along with alien rulers and shens gift. What's everyone's opinion on integrated vs not? From what I've gathered lurking, it seems like rulers is better integrated, but shens is best off not? As a whole, which is the ideal way to go?

My first time using Banish was against the Berskerer Queen. Of course the first shot was an execution shot which sent the corpse flying backwards.

Honestly, it's all a matter of opinion. It really comes down to a question: is getting the Hunter Weapons/First Spark for free worth getting your soldiers' stamina UTTERLY MURDERED by the Alien Nest/Lost Towers missions? And in the case of the Alien Nest mission, activating all three rulers at once instead of one at a time?

I have a modded class that somehow got bladestorm and the primary pistol equivalent so everytime they get anything near them it's probably fuckin dead. It rules.

One of the SPARK upgrades has also made my robots do the same with their rifles which is...probably unbalanced as gently caress but I love it.

That's what bladestorm is for.

Which of course leads to me screwing my inexperienced rangers over when I forget that they don't have it yet.

Rainmaker and Overdrive are what makes a SPARK kind of a defensible choice to me, but ultimately they just have so many downsides.

Their upgrades are very expensive considering you'll probably at most have two of them. I mean, just compare them to the cost of the new faction units, who only need to upgrade their weapons and get those upgrades for a pretty low price. Of course, they're in even more limited supply than SPARKs, but still, they're so much cheaper.

And SPARKs can't get extra abilities or gain stats from the Resistance Ring, so eventually regular soldiers will leave them in the dust.

I like how they play but it's hard for me to justify the investment.

Shredstorm is already top-tier without Rainmaker whereas the Plasma Lance is a whole new weapon.

Because the Shredstorm Cannon isn't meaningfully made better by Rainmaker. It's fantastic before, and after, and you probably only have a limited supply of them given the random nature of making heavy weapons.

The Plasma Blaster goes from "mediocre" to "hilariously powerful" with Rainmaker. If you haven't tried it, you need to.
