Kimmel's monologues have been genuinely moving. He's probably the most tolerable late night host in the wake of Colbert's stunt with Sean Spicer at the Emmys.

What I have always appreciated about Kimmel is that he is completely unconcerned with decorum He is the only late night host who will talk poo poo about you for weeks and then continue to talk poo poo to your face when you come on No since Letterman did that

I get the feeling that when Kimmel talks about how his being rich and able to afford life saving treatment is the reason his kid is alive whereas someone in poverty wouldn't be so lucky, the right just nods it's head and says "Yeah isn't that how it's supposed to work?"

It's not just that, but with lifetime caps as they used to exist, the kid could/would be uninsurable. A buddies kid has the same thing and they call their senators every day because of it.

I remember there was this one late late night talk show where for whatever reason the camera would do a super closeup of the face of whoever was talking. Can't remember the name of the host though. This was like way back in the 90s
