Yeah that's a bullcrap bug. I recommend just getting taking it slow and killing the 2 cannons first. That or getting there with a fire shield.

i dont know how to feel about that synth and the compositions in general. i mean im glad they're still trying after how impossible it is to outdo unleashed's soundtrack, but man, im not really feeling it so far. But its a sonic game, so its guaranteed to have a godly song or two in there somewhere
